7 have left the program

Post by gmartin »

If I need to disclose my source later I will but from my very reliable source and out of maybe 20 times he gave me information he was wrong once it looks like 7 players as of now will not be Falcons next year.

Austin, Denny, Parker, Gomez, Tisdale, Dickerson as well as one incoming recruit will no longer be Falcons. There may possibly be even two more.

Wow. Talk about a major overhaul. Huger has his hands full that's for sure. ESPN in its 'transfer' list also confirms 5 of the 7. I'm thinking the other 2 may be our other recruits.

Austin
Dickerson
Parker
Denny
Gomez
Tisdale
Andrews
. . . would be 7 leaving us with . . .

G- Joseph and Hluch
G-
F-
F- Friday and Wiggins
C- Worrell and Mayleben

At this point, we have 7 open. In a dream world, I would take 2 more true frosh, 3 JUCOs, a fifth year and a transfer that would potentially sit out.

Wow, if that's the case, then that's scary. How in the world do you lose that many people due to a coaching change? Do the players feel we did something wrong by getting rid of Jans? Do the players not like Huger? Are they fed up with BGSU in general, so they were going to be gone regardless of the coaching situation? So many questions.

By losing those 7 people, we'll barely have a roster. According to the roster on http://www.bgsufalcons.com, here is what we have left:

10 David Joseph G 6-0 187 Sr. Queens, N.Y. / Westlake Prep (Fla.) Howard College
15 Brandon Busuttil G 6-4 205 Sr. Kitchener, Ontario, Canada / St. John's-Kilmarnock School
24 Matt Fox G 6-4 185 So. Maumee, Ohio / Anthony Wayne
32 Rasheed Worrell F 6-7 205 R-Fr. Coker, Ala. / Sipsey Valley
33 Garrett Mayleben F 6-9 245 R-So. Milford, Ohio / Milford

OptionQB listed Hulch, Friday, and Wiggins as well (I don't pay attention to things very well...are these new incoming players? Transfers?). That gives us 8 players. How do you fill out the rest of the roster?

Did your source say why everyone was leaving?

Fox and Busuttil are walk-on non scholarshipped players. Fox may be worthy of a one year deal similar to Jehvon Clarke a few years back.

I don't think any of us have any idea if Busuttil can play or not.

Some of the Orr holdovers were probably leaving even if Jans didn't. I think the new coach's (Jans) language and work ethic jarred the senses of those good character players (LOL). (read between the lines as evidenced on Twitter).

Dickerson and Austin are probably going out as a pair, either Delvo is unhappy in the Flatlands, or he has allegiance to Jans. Hard to say.

No doubt the selling point of BGSU basketball is that a good recruit will get to play immediately. Huger has his work cut out for him. I just wish May whatever (20,24?) was here so we had a better picture of who we have coming in.

Go Falcons!

Oh well, weren't going to win anything with any of the above listed. Jans got about the max out of all of them. Bottom out and hit the reset button. On a positive note, that makes the program about 95% Orr free.

FWIW,

Jovan Austin just retweeted the verbal commits tweet that he was leaving the program.

I'm sure there will be some story / news in a few days. If we lost our other 2 recruits to make this 9 players we may need to combine the men's and women's team just to practice.

My source did say something I read in another thread somewhere. The players didn't like the intensity of the practices. It appears Jans ran a tough practice unlike Orr. Not sure how that played out. You would think if they didn't like the tough practices they would want to stick around. That's what I'm so confused about.

Regardless, it's going to be a tough first year for Huger & Co.

If these gentlemen don't want to be here, we shouldn't wish or want them to stay.

Onward from here, Falcons.

Or Huger also gave indications that his practices will be tough, and if he did then bravo.

IMO, this was bound to happen whether or not Jans was still here. Based on information coming out here and there over the last few weeks on AZZ and other places, it sounds like Jans may have been a little extreme with the practices and expectations put on the players, and the way he addressed players. But, I doubt it was anything too far outside of the norm for division 1 basketball programs. Some kids did not like it and are moving on. That’s OK.

I noticed graduated player Jehvon Clarke has been hinting in his tweets that he is dissatisfied with the University and/or the athletic administration, or others. Not a good look Jehvon…

I think we’re just at a natural point where you have to bring in new kids and flush out any negative remains of the last year plus. Not to say any players in the program were bad kids – they certainly were not - I just believe all that is happening is a natural consequence of the drastic change from Orr to Jans to Huger. Change is as hard and confusing for these players as it is for us.

I hope and trust Huger will continue to have high standards for effort, push the players hard, yet at the same time gain a mutual respect with them.

A voice of reason. =D> =D>
I wouldn't bet the house or your womenfolk on all 7 of those names. Just sayin'.
