BG last team in tourney with one series to go

Falcons play OU at 9:30AM Wednesday morning in the first game of the MAC baseball tourney.

Think about this, BG is the ONLY team this year to beat CMU in a series. That goes for any non-conference or conference series this season, and we also did it on the road. Very impressive.

I'm actually more concerned about Kent State. One, because this tournament has become their own personal playground, and two, because KSU and not CMU is on our side of the bracket. But first thing is first, we must beat Ohio in game one. In order to win a double-elimination tournament format like this one, it's almost imperative to win the opening game. If you lose the opener, you've got a monster of a hill to climb with no room for error the rest of the way.

We've had a lot of success vs Ohio in the regular season over the last decade as I think BG has won every series with OU but one during that time. However, in the few times we've played them in the tournament, they beaten us a couple times and even eliminated us a couple times.

If we can win the first TWO games, it gives us a day off to rest pitching, otherwise it becomes "survival" mode, but still possible!

When we won the MAC Tournament two years ago (in 2013), we were also the #6 seed and yes, we won our first two games which set us up in great position at a run at the title.
