New helmets
Re: New helmets
I'll withhold judgment until I see them in person. I didn't like the 2007 helmet redesign upon first glance until I actually saw them in person. To this day the 2007-09 helmets remain my all time favorite BG helmets. So I will withhold judgment for the meantime.

Re: New helmets
Is it supposed to be a wing? It looks like the shoulder mark from the Adidas uniforms, that would be odd to pair with nike uniforms
Re: New helmets
I believe we just found the wings that would have gone with the old "LT" Falcon head. I'm all for alternative looks but this one has me scratching my head. This looks like a graphic from on an old Atari 2600.Falcon137 wrote:Is it supposed to be a wing? It looks like the shoulder mark from the Adidas uniforms, that would be odd to pair with nike uniforms
GO BG!!!
Re: New helmets

It has similarity to Oregon's helmets. Nike of course uses Oregon as the flagship for "trendy" helmets so if this imagery is popular at Oregon, it makes sense to make a similar design for other schools as an optional uniform.
I don't know who all was involved in picking uniform designs but I know current players were involved. Believe it or not, uniform designs can have a real impact on recruiting. The flashiness of Oregon has helped them immensely in recruiting.
Also ... is this the new helmet? Or an "alternative" helmet? Nike is big about alternative options. And Oregon is again of course the flagship for flashy alternatives.

Hopefully... that isn't the only design.

Re: New helmets
I love them. Hopefully, this is the first of many good things from nike. Bravo

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My eye beholds no beauty in that.
Re: New helmets
I love a lot of what Nike does for Oregon and others, but I'm NOT a fan of that helmet. I'm not really a fan of the wings thing period...helmet, shoulder pads, doesn't matter, I don't really care for it. Yes, our mascot is a bird, but our logo does not have wings. I'd much rather have a helmet with our logo than these wings.
I do hope they bring in some bright shades of orange, some metallics, more grey would be good as well. I do have a feeling though there are gonna be a lot of disappointed fans on here when we start seeing the uniforms come out. Nike doesn't really do plain jane. It's not gonna be the same shade of orange and brown that we're used to in the same non-descript pattern that we've had for decades. Even century long tradition teams like OSU have had some pretty radical changes with Nike.
I hope if they're gonna do this they go all out and do it up. I think they did a pretty good job with the Browns unis, and I hope we see something equally as impressive. Not a big fan of that helmet though...I was hoping for closer to our old helmets with some metallic tones or something...just not a fan of those wings. In the end, though, all that really matters is what HS kids think of the changes. Bring in some unis that pop to the HS generation and pair it with a team that wants to play uptempo offense and we should be able to get some good recruiting momentum.

Re: New helmets
Any word when they might unveil the new sets?
The one thing I did hear is that we will have white, brown and orange pants and jerseys. I have not heard about helmets, but assume we will at least have a white and orange option.

Re: New helmets
I do not like this.
The wings were the most ugly and cliche part of last year's uniform.
Those helmets look ghastly.
