Poe Ditch Music Festival anybody?
I'm still pissed it rained just before Johnny Winter hit the stage. I remember it was sunny and warm, watched Richie Havens, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Pure Prairie League, Golden Earring, then all hell broke loose.

Is this for real?? BG had it's own "Woodstock?" When was this? Where was is staged? Sounds like a pretty solid lineup!SW-MI Falcon wrote:I'm still pissed it rained just before Johnny Winter hit the stage. One of the larger "disasters" in BGSU history. I bet the Jerome Library archives would have some neat items.

Old as dirt (Nitty Gritty Dirt)
Fortunately I spared some brain cells from that era. My freshman year, Howard's was across the street from current location. Always got served, and not just the 3.2%. Maybe my mustache helped.....

Get reading that Stu Givens book, you'll find out ALL about it.ZiggyZoomba wrote: Is this for real?? BG had it's own "Woodstock?" When was this? Where was is staged? Sounds like a pretty solid lineup!
This was a little before my time at BG so I would have to say it was closer to 30 years ago. I wasn't there but I seem to remember it was held at the Doyt. And I vaguely remember something about someone trying to start the press box on fire when the concert ended prematurely. And of course afterwards the university President declaring, "Never again!!".
You're right, for some reason I thought I read it was in '85, but it was 1975. June 2, as far as I can tell (for those of you that want to go out and burn down a press box in commemoration). 35,000 people came, only about 3,000 were BG students.doughash wrote:This was a little before my time at BG so I would have to say it was closer to 30 years ago.
