Area player we have offered (2016)

6'6" 270 lb OT from Leipsic, Gavin Cupp. But it sounds like he is also already getting interest from Big 10 schools. Both Meyer and D'antoni have called him. His dad had a 'cup of coffee' in the NFL.

My Job takes me into schools throughout northeast Ohio. When I signed in at Willoughby South this morning, three of the five names above mine were Mike Ward, Mark Dantonio, and Dino Babers (among others that I didn't recognize at the top of my head, who all signed in at the same time to see the same guy...coach Matt Duffy). I just missed seeing Coach Babers....
Perhaps they were there to talk Nik Urban? He's an OL that appears to have caught the eye of a number of MAC and big ten schools. Has his name popped up on anyone's radar as a possibility for us?

Most interesting name in your list belongs to HC from MSU. Hope we can hit Will. So. for some kids soon as they've become THE power in Will.-eastlake system. I pleaded with Dave Clawson to get their RB of 3 yrs ago. Seems like he went to school up north and is doing " fairly well for them. Think South had another good RB this yr ....just not as good as kid at UT. ](*,)

Following up on this, Cupp committed to Michigan St. a couple of weeks ago. Good luck to him.

Lots of good football players here in NE Ohio, glad to see the current staff being more aggressive in the area.

Interesting note on Cupp. Even though he committed to Michigan St., he attended the "Friday Night Lights" recruiting program at Ohio State this past weekend. Since he apparently didn't let the MSU coaches know of his plans, they have pulled his scholarship offer. He still has offers from other Power 5 schools, but seems kind of crappy by MSU.

Yes, all this amounts to is that MSU wasn't totally sold on Cupp from the beginning. If he were a 4-star or 5-star recruit, they wouldn't have made this move. They probably think they can use that scholarship somewhere else on a better player. They just found an excuse to make the move.

It's part of a growing trend with P5 coaches...when you committ...you better commit, because if we find out that you're taking other visits, we won't put a "hold" on your scholarship and we'll continue to recruit other guys for your spot. Pulling the offer is a step furhter, but from MSU's perspective, they made the offer in good faith and had every intention of honoring it. The kid decided to attend arecruiting event at an arch rival's facility, so they rescinded the offer. Bear in mind...I don't think written offers have gone out yet, so the whole situation is pretty fluid.

MSU's just taking steps to protect their brand on the recruiting trail...I don't have a problem with it.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Another note, MSU immediately offered a scholarship to another lineman from Ohio.

Story from the Findlay paper with comments from Cupp about the situation.
