Good stuff, jp. Thanks.

I really think the D will be better than people think...even if not evident in the first 4 games.

I wonder what the norm is for # of walk-ons or former walk-ons on a team's 2-deep. Just glancing at ours, I see 8 or maybe 10. Its hard to tell which were walk-ons and which were not in some cases. I'm sure some have earned schollies but I believe these 8-10 started as walk-ons.

Bush, Konowalski, Royster, Schwieterman, Greene, Mack, Burbrink, Cairo and maybe Milton and Turner.

I'm not sure what happens with transfers. I imagine they get schollies in many cases. Hardy, Brown, Rhodes, G.Dieter, (I don't know if N.Dieter has one).

Rhodes was included in practice today. Babers mentioned in spring that he wasn't going to be listed on the depth chart to open camp so they may be trying to find where he best fits in.

Coach Ward spent time working on technical aspects with the defense. Offense looked good from the reports I got, having the depth at WR will be a huge plus.

I'll try to gather more information tomorrow.

Few things of note from today:

Defense is focused on creating turnovers and playing as a unit. It's likely we're going to see a lot of guys get playing time to keep everyone fresh so I'd expect rotations once the season starts.

Depth at WR is going to be sorted out in camp. What you see on the current depth chart will not mirror what you will see when the season starts. Much like the defense, we will likely see some rotations at certain WR positions to keep guys fresh. The current "starters" are Moore, Dieter, Lewis and Burbrink. Rhodes, Gallon etc. are all getting reps as well.

There's been no injuries yet after three days of camp.

Saw a picture on twitter of the DB's doing tackling drills....so...if the question arises this fall, yes.... they do teach them how to tackle in camp
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Tweeted Joseph Wagner:

LOTS of WRs getting reps. 1st group for #Falcons seemed to be Burbrink, Dieter, Lewis, Moore. #BGSU

He says Rhodes is also getting reps.

The season can't get here soon enough. Has a school in our conference ever had a better receiving corps?

I'd argue this will rival when we had Magner, Sharon, Sanders and McGrady. Should be fun seeing the ball tossed around the yard.

That's excellent news and I hope that continues all through camp! Thanks for these updates by the way, very much appreciated. How are you getting all this info anyhow? I've been chomping at the bit the last several weeks for any info on things and there's been very little news about anything related to the team. If one of our guys stole a cupcake from a dining hall it would make news though. But your updates are helpful.

That group was probably a better starting unit, but I think this year's team has more quality depth behind the starters.

Check out Travis Greene's extended interview on the athletic department website. If all the fifth year seniors have the same attitude as him, leadership will not be a problem on this team. He seems to have the right attitude and will not let guys get away with half efforts.

=D> Best description ever of how the team is covered locally.

The best defenses we've had recently have had big, dominant d-lines. Jairus Campbell went 6'5" 290 and Chris Jones was 290 in addition to being cat-quick and incredibly disruptive. A bunch of our d-lineman now are warriors but those are stunning weight listings for a D-I program.

The offense needs to concentrate on getting first downs and being efficient. We need to eliminate the quick 3 and outs and keep drives alive.

A combination of people I know who work for the football team and some Twitter updates. I was fortunate enough to meet some people a few years ago who knew some guys that work for the university, they've stayed on through the coaching transition, albeit I used to get a lot more info when Clawson was coaching. Dino likes to control what information gets out there which is why the media reports are typically lacking substantial content.

8/11 recap:

Team went through skeleton drills today along with some 7 vs. 7 and 11 vs. 11 drills. Lots of work being done by individual position coaches, especially on defense with learning a new scheme.

Team will wear full pads tomorrow for the first time in camp. Contact has been light up to this point so hopefully the injury bug doesn't jump up and bite anyone.

BG website posted a couple videos with Lewis and Greene talking about the offense and discussing their personal goals.

Of note it appears Nolan Dieter is taking QB reps despite being moved to D in spring.

So our QBs are: Johnson, Knapke, Dieter, and Morgan. That's all, right?
