Also highly recommended is a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Maybe Hattie B's would be a good place to start, but there are several good ones. Also, as for tailgating, Nashville is Vanderbilt's home city so tailgating... IDK you'd have to ask a Titan's fan. There is virtually no Vandy tailgating scene, but I'm sure there will be plenty of Vols there who will be quite welcoming. Our fans are (mostly) very hospitable and welcoming.

Long time reader, first time poster. I will be in Nashville for the game as well. I have traveled to at least one away game since 2002 when I started college. I have seen games at Northern Ill, Western Mich, Toledo, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pittsburg, Mizzou, Miss St, Western KY, West VA, VA Tech, All the MAC Championships and the bowl games in Detroit. When I tailgate for the home games I set up shop in the grass, by the hill, next to the track coach monument.

Joyce and I have booked into the FC/ alum. Trip. Round trip bus ( from BG) stay 2 nites at Opreyland hotel, tix for game as well as Grand old Oprey on Fri. Nite, dinner by the river on Fri. Along with 2 breakfasts... A bit pricey, but should be a great trip.... Now all we need is a win over Vols to make it perfect!
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

Prepare yourself for Tennessee fans asking if you're from Kentucky.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.

At the bowl game last year one of the USA fans kept telling me to go back to KY with all the other ridge runners.

Ignorance is bliss. I remember the 2008 Pitt game and their fans harassing myself and family (brother is a BG grad too) about being from Kentucky. Best way for people like that to remember who you are and where you're from is to beat them in their backyard.kdog27 wrote:At the bowl game last year one of the USA fans kept telling me to go back to KY with all the other ridge runners.

I went to the WKU game last year just so I could say I tailgated in Bowling Green. Only 4 more Bowling Greens in the U.S. to visit lol Side note after the game last year we stayed down south and went to the UT game on Sunday, pretty cool seeing Neyland Stadium in person

The Pitt fans are one step up from WVU fans...pretty classless. Walking out of Heinz Field that day was very gratifying.jpfalcon09 wrote:Ignorance is bliss. I didn't think Pitt fans were that bad. I stayed in town and went out to dinner and then to some bars in Oakland wearing BG stuff and had nothing but good natured ribbing and congrats.
Va Tech fans were the best I have encountered.
I thought Nashville was great for the game. But, after visiting Knoxville I wish the game was there. I really enjoyed their downtown.
SEC and Big10 fans are generally not the best...usually because 60% of the crowd and fans have no affiliation with the university other than cheering for the football team. I think those games skew more towards an NFL feel for fan behavior. Which is generally not good.

Indeed it was! I was minding my own business, walking back to the car and not doing anything to draw attention to myself, aside from wearing BG garb. Someone who appeared highly hammered came running at me with a crazy look on his face. I got in a defensive stance, since it looked like his intent was to steamroll me. He stopped at the last second, pointed at my shirt and at the top of his lungs screamed, "YOU SUCK!" He then went on his way. Being that I was the only orange shirt in a sea of Pitt fans, I refrained from pointing out what his statement suggested about his own team, considering we had just beaten them.Falconfreak90 wrote:The Pitt fans are one step up from WVU fans...pretty classless. Every large school has it's share of crazies and rude folks, but I thought the Pitt folks were pretty good, in general. I tailgated with a large number of them who were very friendly before the game (when they thought an easy win was in store). Back at the tailgate sight after the game, those same friendly fans didn't want to make eye contact and just got back in their cars. I understood their disappointment and felt very glad that they took it as well as could be expected and didn't decide to toss me in a dumpster. This was from the 2008 game at their place. I wasn't able to attend the bowl game with them, so can't speak as to how they were there.

If you check the message boards for OOC teams who come to Knoxville, the vast majority rave about the hospitality they receive before, during and after the game. I love it when OOC opposing team fans tailgate near us. It's fun getting to interact with them and share a bit of food and drink.Falcon137 wrote:I didn't think Pitt fans were that bad.
