Game Thread: Tennessee
Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
Did you see Greene??? He ran out onto the field and pointed to the sky and left the field. I might be reading into it but he may have just ended his career.
GO BG!!!
Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
I have a bad feeling that may have been his swan song. I don't think he "returned" when he ran back out there before the play, as he ran right back off.Rollo83 wrote:Travis Greene returns. Best news all day.

Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
Now our coach gets in on the boneheaded action. He has a point but still stupid...
Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
So Babers sacrificed 3 points to be a baby . . . smh - have to keep your head
Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
I agree with 33. I think Greene career may be over. He may wanted to line up one more time. If we don't see him if this game remains close we may have our answer.

Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
Say what you want about Babers getting that flag, but that was definitely pass interference. Garbage.
Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
Agree on the fact it looked like PI. However, you need to take the chip shot not a 43 yarder. Weather delay.
Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
Yea that was absolutely DPI. But Babers CAN'T get that penalty.

Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
Giving up 3 hurts, but that can come back to help us. And 3's don't matter much right now. Great stop by D, now we need to return with a TD!
Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
Oh it was 100% pass interference and a blown call by the ref. But here you have a Head Coach getting a penalty to take us out of chip shot FG range and into a longer kick...which was ultimately blocked.
I'd have a little more tolerance for a coach doing that if it were a Belicheck or Clawson who ran a pretty disciplined ship...similar to a hoops coach taking the technical to get his team pumped. But when the #1 reason you're losing the game is due to stupid penalties all game long, the last thing you want is your HC following suit. I love Babers offense. I love the brash style. I can live with the defensive style if they actually force the turnovers they're supposed to.
I cannot live with losing games because of penalties. It's inexcusable.

This could go completely the wrong way in a hurry, but midway through the 3rd quarter and we're within striking distance - I'm actually pretty happy with this. It's a different game without the special teams gaffes, too. Going to be a fun season.

I like our chances the rest of the way. Is there a defense out there that can stop us? I'm thinking... Probably not.bgdodgeball4 wrote:This could go completely the wrong way in a hurry, but midway through the 3rd quarter and we're within striking distance - I'm actually pretty happy with this. Per Schmeltz on Twitter... Dino said something to the ref who f bombed him over the stadium mic. That guy needs to be dealt with.... maybe run a TE into him.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Already sent this to a buddy of mine, but I'll post it here.Schadenfreude wrote:I like our chances the rest of the way. Is there a defense out there that can stop us? I'm thinking... We score 80 at least once in the MAC season. Tennessee is in the SEC and their DBs are completely overwhelmed by our WRs. No team in the MAC will even slow them. Especially once Johnson gets back into rythmn...he was out of sorts for most of the 1st quarter and has still put up 325 halfway through the 3rd.
I think we score more points here in this game, and the weather delay probably helps us as the team that is not as deep. I don't know if we'll force enough stops to win it, but it's possible.
Funny thing is I think we've forced more stops than Tennessee has. The only reason we're losing is because we killed our own drives with drops and penalties in the 1st quarter.
Re: Game Thread: Tennessee
That's what it looked like to me. I hope I'm very wrong but with him not staying on the field during the play and coming off, that's exactly what I gathered from it.gmartin wrote:I agree with 33. I think Greene career may be over. He may wanted to line up one more time.
