Moore has to throw it. These announcers are idiots. Safe play? It was 4th down. Who cares if it gets picked.

Agreed. As I'd MJ handles the snap it's quite likely a td.

Going for it there is perfectly acceptable, IMO.

D looks GREAT, MD has 187 total yards and 70 came on the first drive. 1 penalty for 5 yards in the 1st half. O hasn't finished. We can beat this team...ST? UGH. Replace Kaufman immediately.

Take the 2nd half kickoff and tie the game.

BG should be leading this game but instead of electing to have your senior kicker try to get you points, you go for it on 4th down with no success. If they lose this game, it's on Babers.

Clearly the BG staff are playing a different game than I'm accustomed. Most coaches would have taken the points. The devil may care approach is great when you are trying to steal a game. If we execute the way we are capable we should WIN this game. Stop gambling unnecessarily.

I love going for it on 4th down. BG just killing themselves. Again the offense continues to bog down inside the 30.

Special teams, again holding this team back. 14 point swing.

Maryland punt return for TD.
Missed chip shot FG.
Failed 2 point out of the extra point formation.
Maryland FG after starting at the 50.

This game is a perfect example of why we cannot simply rely on our offense trying to outscore teams to win games. Sure we have been moving the ball, but we aren't scoring. It takes all three phases (offense, defense and special teams). Maryland is a bottom-tier Big Ten team and there are several teams in the MAC who are about as equally good as them. People who think no one can stop our offense in the MAC need to take notice. We have moved the ball at times for sure, but we have also been stumped and have turned it over on downs a few times too when four downs couldn't muster ten yards, and more glaring is the inability to score points. We have moved the ball enough to have 20-something points at this time. Instead, we have 6.
GO BG!!!

Nobody is more critical of Coach Hubris (I like that) than me, but I think you can't go wrong trying either play in that situation. Let's be honest: Tate is very inconsistent, and has already missed a chippie that should have helped tie the game (if Coach Hubris doesn't go for 2). But, it's a long FG, so trying for it on 4th down in what I would consider no man's land, is acceptable as well.

It's too bad the snap was mishandled. The play was there.

The difference in this game is a very stupid coaching decision to kick the ball right to a dangerous return man, when you know your coverage teams aren't very good.

I seem to recall that senior kicker missing a fg when they let him try to get them points.

I know the style of football where you play for Tds is foreign to many but the fact is that the math proves it right. Traditional style coaches punt and take fgs far too often. Why? So people on message boards don't question them when they fail on the more gutsy and statistically superior decision to go for it.

We are losing because of failed execution on those going for it plays. Which sucks, but you only have to get a td once to make it worth 2 converted fgs. When those fgs aren't even a given the odds go even further in your favor to play for Tds.

I have major issues with how this team is executing in the redzone, but will never fault my coach for playing for Tds rather than fgs. I'm so so on 2 pt plays...

BG grades at the half:

Offense - C. Moving the ball at times but not scoring points.

Defense - B. Had several breakdowns but all in all, has played pretty well.

Special Teams - F-minus! Missed short FG, punt return allowed for a TD, failed two-point conversion.

Defense is playing great and is putting this game in a position to win. I love our new DC.

Offense is moving. If they were finishing their drives we would be up at halftime.

To be a fly on the wall in the BG locker room listening to coach B right now .....

I'm with Hammb....Dieter was open down the sideline.

All in all, we trail but the D is getting pressure and hitting. I knew they would be better than last week...and look solid save a couple BiG plays.

And now we have a lightning delay....WTF?

I'd probably downgrade the offense to at least a D. C is a passing grade and 6 points (9-10 if you wanna give them credit despite st blunders) is not a passing grade with this uptempo approach.

Defense I'd go maybe up to a b+. No Tds allowed and forced several punts.

Specials is garbage again.

Nice to see no stupid penalties for an entire half...

That announcer has an IQ deficiency. Earlier in the broadcast, Maryland stopped Johnson on a scramble after a 2 yard gain, and he called it a coverage sack. Where do they find these guys?
