That announcer has an IQ deficiency. Earlier in the broadcast, Maryland stopped Johnson on a scramble after a 2 yard gain, and he called it a coverage sack. Where do they find these guys?
Agreed on both accounts. I chuckled on the coverage sack comment, and I would have liked to see Ronnie chick it and pray. It's 4th down and am int was actually preferable than being tackled short of the sticks.
Depressing thing is the lass was wide open if the play was clean and I think Moore may have been able to run it for the first as well if he had the ball sooner.

Coppet is listed at 205 this yr. was 190 last yr. IIRC
Coppet has long been my favorite back against power conf teams. He is a one cut and burst runner with enough owner and speed to do damage against top tier defenses. Greene is awesome in the Mac but his dancing style is not as conducive to making quick defenses pay.
I wonder what coppets 40 time is and if he might get a shot at the next level. Seems like even with limited reps he pops a big play against nearly every power conf team we play. Didn't he hit a big td as a lone bright spot against uw last year too?
Our wr corps gets the most pub (justifiably) but our rb tandem is fantastic as well.

Nobody is more critical of Coach Hubris (I like that) than me, but I think you can't go wrong trying either play in that situation. Let's be honest: Tate is very inconsistent, and has already missed a chippie that should have helped tie the game (if Coach Hubris doesn't go for 2). But, it's a long FG, so trying for it on 4th down in what I would consider no man's land, is acceptable as well.
It's too bad the snap was mishandled. The play was there.
The difference in this game is a very stupid coaching decision to kick the ball right to a dangerous return man, when you know your coverage teams aren't very good.
Tate is very inconsistent? He had a kick blocked last week due to a breakdown up front. Yes, he seemed to shank the one kick today. But i'd not call him an inconsistent kicker.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

That's okay, those same announcers are thinking the same thing about our special teams units and coaches.

That said he can't be missing 27 yarders...
Tate might just very well be our worst-best kickers to ever play at BG. Yes, I said worst-best. Meaning, I think he's a really good kicker and one of the best we've had, but he also misses some head-scratching kicks and has a lot of them blocked. He has an outstanding leg and he kicks some big field goals, but the ones you think he should be money in the bank with are the ones he seems to struggle with.
