In what can only be described as a huge reversal Coach Darell Hazell has announced that David Blough will start for Purdue against Bowling Green this Saturday. This despite the fact that the released depth chart showed Austin Appleby as the starter.
Hazell went on to say that one of the main reasons for the change was the amount of turnovers that Appleby has given up. I can't say I'm particularly surprised by this but it does seem a bit odd given that Appleby supposedly took much better care of the football during camp and during the spring. Hazell even highlighted this as one of the reasons that Appleby was given the nod over Blough to start the year. This will mark yet another QB change at the position that used to know such stability at Purdue. Not since Joey Elliot in 2009 has Purdue had the same QB start and finish every game. Will this be enough to spark the offense or will the Shoopfense still dog this team regardless of who the QB is? We shall see as we move forward to Bowling Green. We will have a more in depth look at this later on as well as more from the press conference later in the day. Stay tuned.

Purdue Makes a Change at Quarterback
Breaking News out of West Layette has Hazell replacing his quarterback for the BG game. He's now going with a red-shirt freshman per Purdue's Twitter account. Not sure what that means for us because the pervious starter struggled and committed turnovers.

I'd rather see the guy we knew was bad.
Re: Purdue Makes a Change at Quarterback
Ha! Well, the guy that was bad beat out this guy for the job during summer camp. So, there's that.kdog27 wrote:I'd rather see the guy we knew was bad.
Re: Purdue Makes a Change at Quarterback
Blough is smaller and quicker, much more mobile and a better runner who can make plays with his legs and keep plays alive outside of the pocket. Appleby is 6-5 and a solid guy who is more of a drop-back passer.
GO BG!!!
Re: Purdue Makes a Change at Quarterback
Yeah the mobile qb scares me much more than the drop back statue.
