Buffalo Roll Call
Anyone making the trip to western NY? We're making a weekend out of it to visit Niagara Falls, was curious where the BG tickets were located at.

I've been to UB's stadium a few times for BG games. You can pretty much sit where you want and it's a cool stadium. I have a family event Sat evening so I can't make the trip this year. Plenty of hotels right down the street from the stadium. The UB students can get vulgar but beating them on the field shuts them up.

I plan on being there with a couple of friends.
FYI -- there is an alumni event prior to the game:

In terms of fan vulgarity and azz-ness, I feel that UB is in the upper quartile of MAC teams. I was at the game in 2009 and was definitely getting plenty of insults thrown my way.Falconfreak90 wrote:I've been to UB's stadium a few times for BG games. If on the scale of jerks, 1 is Kent State and 10 is Central Michigan, Buffalo is about a 7, IMHO

Totally agree, 24. I feel the CMU fans are, by far, the worst. UB fans throw out insults so beating them is always sweet. Even tsun's fans have more class than UB and CMU. The funny thing is the UB fans are clueless about MAC football.bgsufalcon24 wrote:In terms of fan vulgarity and azz-ness, I feel that UB is in the upper quartile of MAC teams. Re: Buffalo Roll Call
Agreed Freak. Toledo's fans only really get after us because of the rivalry, which is cool I guess. I feel like Toledo fans in general are a lot more knowledgable about football, though they collectively don't have the humility of an Akron or Ohio, especially not Kent. Akron's fans did seem to have an edge to them, similar to Buffalo now, when I first got to BGSU 10 years ago but it seems all their recent losing has knocked their collective ego down a bit. But yeah, Buffalo fans don't seem to know the MAC and/or the other teams like Toledo fans, or even Miami fans do. What's bizarre is why they feel the need to go after other teams fans when outside of a miracle MAC title in 2008 (the James Starks/Khalil Mack team) they really haven't done diddly poo on the field. I understand if NIU fans want to beat their chest, or that CMU fans did when I was an undergraduate (maybe they've mellowed out a little since 2010), but where Buffalo fans get their ego when their town hasn't had a winner in over 20 years, I don't know.

Hell, I've been watching BG games for so long I still sometimes forget that Buffalo is in the MAC.
Re: Buffalo Roll Call
My one experience with Buffalo fans .... we were at the 2007 game at Buffalo. And there were probably more BG fans than UB fans in the stadium. There might have been 100 students in the section. So when I hear UB fans being called jerks, I scratch my head and wonder, "what fans?"

Re: Buffalo Roll Call
That is an interesting point. Buffalo has only been in the MAC since 1998. They were the last of the permanent members to join the conference, so if you followed BGSU athletics prior to then, UB's presence in the MAC might well slip your mind every so often.BGFan wrote:Hell, I've been watching BG games for so long I still sometimes forget that Buffalo is in the MAC.
