........I'll take the win! I thought it was going to be the "Akron Finish" all over again. This was a huge game and a very big win. Let's enjoy our Bracket Buster game and then get ready for a tough road game at Northern Illnois.

Crowd was pathetic and mean- a few students behind me kept telling me to sit down or down in front or blah blah. . .oh well. . .

As for the game, yikes, not a consistent effort by our team or the officials, the only 10 t.o.s was nice. . .in the end we walk away with the W.

Hey 33- how many points does Tone have in the game???

Senior leadership...

Post by bgbball31 »

Senior leadership really showed tonight, Josh with 20 points and John with 28, it really boosted the team. Even when others were having an off night, those two took over the game and pulled it out for us. Now if we could only get the consistant play like this out of those two to combine with the rest of the team on an even half way decent night, it would make it a lot easier the rest of the way through the schedual.

We definitely got bailed out by the officials at the end. We raped that guy after the free throw attempt.

Yeah, but a couple of our guys got body blocked out of the way on the rebound and Opie was geting mugged on the inbound play before Reimold broke loose.

Up until the last minute that game was as dull as dishwater and the crowd was deader than...than...aw hell...give me minute.

Yeah, I absolutely couldn't believe no foul got called after the board. The ball went out of bounds, and I was waiting for the ref to point at somebody, and then he pointed at nobody.

Ball State is so much quicker than us it hurt to watch.

It seems strange to say this, but I can't remember ever walking out after a win and feeling so disgusted. First off, the crowd, if you could call it that, was HORRENDOUS. There were probably more people at the BG high school game last night. Ten minutes before tip and I could have counted the people in the student section. Pathetic. And the people that were there, it was like everyone was on quaaludes or something. Awful. This is reminding me of some of my football attendance rants. Does anybody realize we are in first place?

And we did not deserve to win that game the way we played that last 24 seconds. Why was Vandermeer not in the game??? :? When you have a shot blocker like that, you HAVE to play him when the game is on the line. Nine times out of ten, the opposition is going to try to drive the lane and try to get a foul, or at least crash the boards to get the rebound. But the refs usually let you get away with a little more bumping in that situation, which benefits a shot blocker. Cory should have been on the bench and Vandermeer should have been patroling the key.

Anyway, then Kent misses both FTs (thank you very much :D ), but then we can't control the ball and bodies are flying everywhere. How we didn't get a foul called against us is beyond me. And then we luck out with Steven realizing he can't call a TO and just slams the ball off the Cardinal player.

I guess all that matters is that we won and are still in firs place all by ourselves. :supz: :partyman:

Kent had just made a couple free throws and I figured he would make at least 1, but I'm glad he threw up a couple bricks. On Moon's foul, though, I thought #40 Chapman was the Ball State guy that got fouled, but then Kent ended up shooting the FT's. I can't believe they didn't call a foul after the 2nd FT or on Eyink's "box out" as Reimold streaked down the floor before the intentional foul call. Overall, a very poorly played game by us and very poorly called by the refs. I think Ball State has a legitimate gripe after this one.

BSU's announcers were all over that. First they were laughing that they might be getting away with one with Kent shooting the FT's instead of Chapman, that quickly turned to complaining that Chapman shoulda been on the line... then they got on the no-call after the missed FT, and after the game was over, started in about the box out... sounded crazy, and par for the MAC officiating course...

I had the best view being right behind the basket in the band and yeah, we raped some of their players. That win was somewhat handed to us.

I ran into the BCSN guys going on to the floor after the game and sarcastically looked at one and said "how about the no call on the free throws?" and he simply rolled his eyes and said "yeah how about that?"

Gift-wrapped with a bow . . . So much for the Dakich-MAC officiating conspiracy theory.

Sam Lickliter (sp) is the worst official in college basketball.......bar none!
He has been doing it forever, and gets WORSE every year. We were trying to count, and he made about 10 of the last eleven calls in the game!!!!
He wasn't unfair, just plain BAD!!!!
Some BSU fans said he is suppose to retire after this year.....keep your fingers crossed.

Once we built the 13 point lead we went into the worst offense you possibly can. We started playing not to lose, instead of playing to win. It was disgusting!

Every possession it was dribble around at the point until about 5 seconds on the shot clock, then jack up a contested 3.

It was disgusting to watch, I cannot believe we ended up winning.

I wasn't pumped like usual last night listening to the game. I'm glad we won but it didn't sound pretty. Ball State shot 53% and lost, BG had 10 TO's...excellent.

Take the W. As far as the crowd, I can't comment cuz I wasn't there. With this team in 1st place, you'd think......umm....didn't we just do this over in the football forum...the attendance issue?

I can't wait to get there Saturday. This team could be 16-7 after this weekend!
