Final score on PS2 online game I just finished. Not a good sign, as I'm usually pretty good at online play. I have BG's playbook mastered and can usually move the ball fairly well. I had only 200 yards of total offense most of which came on deep balls late in the game. Our TD came on a 50 yard toss to Magner with :18 in the 4th quarter.
Generally, I have a better chance against an online opponent in PS2 than our football team does (I beat several OSU & Purdue players last year). Of course this has little bearing on the actual game.
OU 35, BG 7
The things about Bowling Green I like OU's chances against a QB that's really never been in a competitive game. I'm sure Jacobs is a great QB or has a chance to be but against OU they have made some great QBs look average. I think the advantage of not really seeing him before except in mop-up duty helps Bowling Green but I still think OU confuses him enough to make big plays on D. I also think OU's offense will have a pretty good game passing it on the young DBs you got there. Jason White is about as good a football player I've seen at OU(granted I'm only 20 years old and when I was growing up OU wasn't really that good till 2000) I think Bowling Green's experience helps them stay somewhat close but I think OU wins somewhat easily. 41-13 or something like that with a late score to put it at about that much by OU.
Option's Sooner Game Thoughts
Just a few random notes and "predictions" about how I think this is going to unfold on Sat.
-Kejuan Jones is a better back than Lydell Ross, Maurice Hall or both of them combined despite what most Sooner fans will tell you . . . HE'LL GO FOR 200+ on Saturday.
-I firmly don't believe that Omar Jacobs has to be "special" to win this game and he most certainly does NOT have to outplay Jason White for BG to win . . . The more important and ultimately telling matchup will pit Terrill Mayberry or Jelani Jordan against MARK CLAYTON. He's #9 folks and probably the Biletnikoff Award winner for this year. My preference is to put a combination of Carswell, Perry and Crumpler at the safety positions with a good ol' fashion big time matchup of the two best players on the field . . . Keon Newsome v. Mark Clayton . . . That's worth the $15 right now . . . Unfortunately, Clayton probably gets Mayberry or better yet (sarcasm) Jordan and let's hope that Jordan figured out how to guard a fly pattern since the Miami debacles.
Looking at the Two-Deep tonight, http://bgsufalcons.collegesports.com/sp ... 04aaa.html, they list Andrew Campbell as a DE. I hope I am not giving anything away, but could Tim Beckman and crew pull a fast one with Parks moving to a more natural OLB spot and having Campbell, Thaler/Williams and Crossley/Cooley/Newble up front for a 3-4 . . . It puts more athletes on the field and gives people like Sayles and Burkes a break.
Other quick predictions are as follows:
-BG keeps the offense somewhat simplified and does not hit the trick play button.
-Omar is able to put up solid numbers, the offense moves the ball and everyone including the OU faithful come away impressed by Jacbos.
-BG will intercept at least two White passes.
-The Falcons much to the chagrin of Hammb and myself will give up a Special Teams touchdown on a punt return (Remember the name: ANTONIO PERKINS) or a trick play . . .
Hopes that the OptionMan has . . .
-Greg Studwara learns the mistakes of last year's OSU playcalling debacle and dances with the girl that brought him rather than lining up in formations for the first time in the third quarter of a real game situation.
-We escape the game, win or lose, and Oklahoma does as well, injury free.
Final Predictions:
-With pressure from the DL and LBs and DBs who actually guard receivers, White has been shown in his last two games to force the ball and rush into plays. I'm not sure how we apply pressure, but I think you're going to see blitzes from all over, b/c we don't have the greyhounds to run with these guys all day.
-BG comes away with much more respect, but starts the year 0-1 for the first time since the first year of Urban Meyer . . . Final score 37-24 . . . I won't mention either of the kickers for fear of being right.

Re: Option's Sooner Game Thoughts
Great analysis, Option. Perkins is simply deadly. KICK THE BALL OUT OF BOUNDS EVERY TIME! At least make the Sooners earn their points.OptionQB wrote:Just a few random notes and "predictions" about how I think this is going to unfold on Sat.

I think that "E" next to Campbell's name is a misprint. It appears that he is backing up Williams at DT. Parks is a fixture at DE. I wouldn't move him. I don't think we'll play a 3-4 because we don't have the Jabba the Hut styled NG to play it effectively. Asking our DL to make that big of a change in responsibilities would be a real challenge. The Sooners are probably enough of a challenge

If the game ends with that
I'll be worried about this year. There's no excuse for us starting off slow again with the experience we have here. I think in the area of 56-10 is about what will happen.
