Beaker wrote:This was a great team win that had contributions from all over the place. We know we have the best skill players in the conference, but I want to give a shout out to the O line for their performance last night. MJ took a lot of sacks, but they were generally because he was holding the ball forever, trying to find a target, not because the protection was bad and you really can't lay much of that blame on the line. The backs did a great job running the ball, but much of the success was due to the holes the guys up front were blowing open. Especially effective in the 2nd half when it was clear to everyone that we were running it......the defense still couldn't stop it. Reminded me of that last clock killing drive in the Buffalo game.

Defensive line pressured Terrell all night and after that first drive of the 2nd half, they pretty much put the clamps on the WMU run game. They seemed to pick up momentum as the game went on and I love to see that. Time the big guys up front on both sides of the ball get some pub.

Another guy that doesn't get his due is Joe Davidson. He does a great job, but with the effectiveness of our offense, he doesn't get noticed that much due to the limited opportunities. I'm betting he'll be booting it on Sundays.
The defense doesn't really have one player that stands out but they function well as a unit, but they really feed off each other when they need a big play. Fonnie Mack has turned into a solid CB while filling in for Darrell Hunter, kudos to Coach Ward and Monroe for getting him ready to fill some big shoes and be successful. Terrance Bush also had his best game last night and was very noticeable on a lot of plays.

Davidson is essentially an extension of the defense and he was lights out again, thank goodness he still has two years of eligibility left.

Well said Beaker. We have the best O line in the MAC and the D line has become a bull rushing force with Colvin, Royster, Minns, Lundsford and Bush. Joe D is one of the best punters in the country.

We just have a damn good team all around.

Agree, agree, agree..I really hope this game put all the doubts to rest. IMO anything except for winning out from here on out would be underachieving. I don't think UT can match up with us at all unless we play an absolutely brutal game. This team is motivated, having fun, and I don't see them slowing down.

Focused like a laser.... Gelling at the right time while tsun has been, IMO, exposed a bit. Good team, don't get me wrong. We are just better and this streak ends Tuesday night.

Once again...the only thing really troubling is why all the sudden our kicker can't make an extra point without hitting an upright 1 out of 3 kicks. Sure hope this doesn't cost us a game or a title!

Anybody can make kicks through the middle. It takes skill to bounce them through.

There are a couple reasons for Tyler's issues. First is he is the many kickoffs. He is either practicing on side to kickoffs to the extra points etc. Leg feels like rubber. Secondly they have gone to a silent count to which the timing is critical. Noticed last night the holder tapped the ground for the ball but it didn't come when expected. This has been the entire season. There has been times where it feels as if he's kicking the ball before it gets to the ground

Yeah I definitely noticed a hold issue on the missed XP. There are so many variables on even a simple XP play yet the kicker always takes the blame for a missed XP or FG.

So true Mark...the snap must be crisp and on time, the holder needs to get the ball down with good placement and then the kick. Lots of timing. I was a kicker in HS and know first hand. I think we take the kicking game for granted at times and Ty probably gets too much blame. Losing Farinella hurt a lot more than I thought. He handled all the kickoffs and did it well. Ty's been kicking so much due to our scoring perhaps he is spent. Maybe get Fields or one of the other kickers to handle XP's and FG's for the next couple games. Tate is a SR and we'll need to replace him next yr. Might as well get a look at some of the other kickers.

I did see Coach Babers talking and encouraging Ty during the game last night. Good to see...
