Toledo predictions

Post by jpfalcon09 »

Alright, with the division sewn up I feel really good about this game as there should be absolutely no distractions. The weather forecast has been slightly improving the last day or so and the bulk of the rain should hold off until later in the night. I believe the local weather stations have a 20-40% chance of rain with highs in the low-60s...great weather for mid-November.

On to the game...this nonsense of losing to Toledo needs to end this year, along with ending their hopes of getting to the championship game. Toledo's strength lies in the run game so I suspect we'll see Brian Ward commit an extra player to stopping the run and go to man coverage on early downs, trying to force Toledo into 3rd and long situations. This same scheme worked in the 2nd half against WMU so if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's a rivalry game so I suspect both teams will pull out all the stops and throw in a few trick plays to try and seize momentum.

All in all, with a healthy Matty J and a deep offense, I don't see Toledo being able to keep pace for four quarters. They'll likely try to extend drives to keep the offense off the field but I see BG executing their game plan to a victory, effectively ending the Rockettes' season as Toledo fans will spend the winer bitching about Matt Campbell and Jason Candle.

Their intelligent fans still won't be able to comprehend that there is more than route to Bowling Green from the north.

As far as a score...it's high time we take them to pound town. 56-21.

I feel it will be close for the first half. tsun is a solid, talented team. I give credit where due and they can run the ball as well as anyone. Ely is an average QB, at best, and nowhere near Matty J's level. Their kicker is having problems just like ours. Their secondary...do they have one? We should be able to bomb away on them. I keep hearing how good their front 7 is but I heard that about Akron, Kent, Ohio, WMU...ect. The edge goes to BG simply because no D in the MAC is gonna stop us. We have shredded every supposed top D unit week in and week out and this one will be no exception. Our D is great at getting turnovers and timely stops and if you force Ely to throw, they are toast early. Turn the tables on them and jump out to a BiG lead and NEVER let the foot off the gas. tsun has been able to get leads on us the last few years and we spent our energy getting back into the games only to lose at the bitter end.

We have a VERY HUNGRY team, committed to finishing strong and, with no player on the roster tasting victory over that hated team, look out. Senior Night to boot...this very ugly 5 game losing streak is gonna end in a BiG way (think of the 2001 game when BG tore tsun up 56-21)

BG 48, tsun 23.

If the weather is like last week I see the game being similar where BG is happy to just get out of the game with a win.

I've been telling everyone I know for weeks that BG wins by 30. Feeling very 2001ish about this game, and I see someone already took that exact score. I say the Falcons go higher.

UT 28

The only question is if Babers will allow them to keep driving for touchdowns once the game is out of reach, which will probably be somewhere in the mid-third quarter. I hope he does, we have five years to make up for with the best offense we've had in over a decade.

I think it will be similar to the WMU game. Toledo's D is a little better than WMU's but their O is not quite as good as WMU's.

A nice lead at halftime, then BG really pours it on in the second half.

Hopefully Babers lets them keep scoring once its out of reach.
