Hockey fans can be quite different from football fans. Case in point, the UM hockey fans at Yost can be total assholes (well MANY of them), while the football fans we encountered at the Big House were fine and treated us well. Just a different breed, from my experiences. It will be interesting to see how we are treated in this case. I am sure it's a lot different when playing league rivals, as opposed to out of conference teams that view you as "that mid-major team on our schedule."therook wrote:i remember meeting wisconsin folks at a frozen four in providence a long

i've got a cousin who lives in madison, and teaches at UW whitewater.
says there are fabulous brewpubs in madison.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

There is also a German-themed beer haus I had the chance to visit a few years ago. The best part: Our waitress turned out to be Mike Royko's niece. And she was hot! My buddy, who lived in Madison at the time, ended up scoring a date with her.therook wrote:says there are fabulous brewpubs in madison.

I'll be passing on the Wisky and Boise State games to save time and $$$ for next year's bowl game. These both will be on ESPN, I'm sure. Plus I want to take the Freaklings to as many MAC stadiums as I can. I don't wanna plunk down Big Ten prices when I can take them to WMU, Ball State...ect.
9 games outta 11 still ain't shabby...for the regular season. MACC and bowl game to follow.
GO FALCONS!

Good planning. I would absolutely love to go to the Boise State game - my in-laws' neighbor works in the Athletic Department there - if only to see a game on the Smurf Turf. But I'm thinking a BG trip and, of course, a bowl trip, so I'm counting my pennies ... and working hard to make sure the bonus comes through again!

Wisconsin people are generally nice and Madison is a great town, but beware of their football fans. Heck, if Ohio State knuckleheads will yell at us in Columbus you better believe the much more notorious Cheeseheads will do that, if not worse- especially when we win.
I remember when we played an NIT hoops game out there in 91 or so and the players talked about getting pelted with pennies as they took the court.

The week of vacation has been approved, its time to start talkin' football!!!
Has anyone else looked into this trip yet, as far as hotels, tickets (assume they'll go on sale in June or so), and such? Basically looking for a good hotel deal, walking distance to where ever a good bar scene is, and then a tailgate location for Saturday morning.
I can't wait to get to Madison!!!

I am planning on being there. That is one of the stadiums I have always wanted to see a game in and this seems like the best time to go. I do not have any details planned out but I will probably be driving. It's one of those games where I feel like I have to be there. About 6 and a half months to go!TG1996 wrote:The week of vacation has been approved, its time to start talkin' football!!!
