I'd rather have a young hot shot coach who just wants to plow through the league for 2 or 3 years and then go get paid over a guy like Solich who wants to hang around as long as someone will have him.

BG has been to 3 straight bowl games coached by 3 different coaches, likely 4 for both of those stats this year. They are going to win the East for the 3rd straight year this year, with 2 different coaches. If Babers leaves, next year, they will still be favored to win the East for the 4th straight year.

Disaster would be if Kingston and Babers both leave within a week or 2 of eachother. You don't want to go through a coaching search and AD search at the same time.

Getting way ahead of myself.... but who would be a good hire if Babers leaves?

At this point I feel like we want to keep this offensive scheme going. I am hoping the next coach would embrace it.

I was shocked to learn that Hawaii was only paying Chow $500,000 or so per year. I thought that job would be in the $750k-1 Mil range.

Wow, that is surprising, especially when you consider cost of living.

Hawaii became a dumpster fire fast. Doesn't seem like that long ago they were in the Sugar Bowl.

According to insiders, Babers is the leading candidate for the Illinois job. I think he'd be wise to pass on that gig, personally.

Babers listed as #4 on CBS' list of "Top 5 Candidate to Replace Frank Beamer at VT."

This is the one I was thinking would be interested in him in a heartbeat. The swagger of The U.

I think Pinkel's health issue may involve a problem with his spine.

Pinkel has cancer and something tells me it's very serious and his time may be short. Very sad

If true....and I would guess it is since it is coming from you.....that is indeed sad and I will keep my mouth shuttle the recent events there out of respect.

Pinkel has non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. And in his statement he said he wants to spend his remaining time with friends and family.

Shafer out at Syracuse. I always thought this would have been a good gig for Clawson.

Current open jobs

Syracuse
Virginia Tech
Miami (FL)
Iowa State
Maryland
Illinois
Rutgers
South Carolina
Missouri
Southern Cal
C. Florida
N. Texas

Hot seat - Mega Jobs

Georgia
LSU

Going to be a wild offseason. Could be as many as 20-30 FBS programs with new coaches when this all shakes out.

That's quite a list of programs with a lot of tradition and history. It'll be extremely difficult for someone to say no to a lot of those positions.

At this point I'd say with near certainty that Babers, Campbell and Carey will be moving on to bigger and better things, while Fleck might get a look from some of the lesser impressive schools.

Don't forget that schools like Houston or Memphis may be open as well depending upon what Herman and Fuente decide to do. Agents are going to be busy this winter.
