Game thread - Ball State
Re: Game thread - Ball State
I'm so tired of this attitude that BG can't beat Toledo. Bring on the Rockets. I can't think of a better way to end this skid then doing it in Detroit. I'd much rather play a ranked team in Detroit and have a well attended games with a good atmosphere.
If they make BG play their worst two games of the year then they are well deserving of a MACC.

I think it will open as a pickem.Beaker wrote:I would be shocked if Vegas has us a favorite over Turdledo.apollo wrote:I think it will be a tough game whether we play UT or WMU. Both teams have talent along with some size.
The key will be getting off to a decent start. Controlling the tempo of the game will be key.....Bottom line, we'll probably be favored in Vegas against either team, but if they lose to either team I wouldn't be shocked.

That #19 playing LB...Roberts?... was around the ball an awful lot last night. Reminded me of Glenn Stanley ...really tall and lean... 'who also played a lot as a true freshman before academics cost him here and eventually cost him a shot at USC with Kiffin.

If they make it, they will have won the battle but BG can win the war.

Well until Friday is over I assume BG will be preparing for both teams, but I suspect they'll be spending more time going over Toledo film since the likelihood of seeing them is greater.kdog27 wrote:...and I like the fact that Toledo will have 3 less days to get ready. It really isn't so much an "attitude" as it is a reality. The fact is, UT has beaten BG six consecutive times - which is the longest streak for either team in the history of the series. Now that doesn't mean BG can't beat UT, but the fact of the matter is that BG hasn't.kdog27 wrote:I'm so tired of this attitude that BG can't beat Toledo.
GO BG!!!
Re: Game thread - Ball State
Each season is different. A loss from 5 years ago has no bearing on this one. Are they in their heads some? Yeah probably, but that only matters if BG shits the bed on the first play of the game again.
It's about going out and executing whether it's Toledo or EMU, plain and simple.

I actually hope the Scuds are the Vegas favorite. I would think that if the betting line favors us, that will serve to embroil and motivate them more, considering they beat us handily at our place only a couple weeks earlier. I know it would piss me off if I were in that position.
I think we went into that game cocky and with too much swagger and it bit us. Our players now know what they're facing and that they're not just going to show up and win without earning it on the field. I like the idea of us being the hunter in this one, rather than the hunted. I'm hoping that plays in our favor.

19 is Brandon Harris, had a game high 11 tackles. Has had a really nice year for a true freshman.Flipper wrote:That #19 playing LB...Roberts?... was around the ball an awful lot last night. Re: Game thread - Ball State
If UT makes the game next week, I'm not optimistic of our chances. You all can think what you want. Losing this game has become an epidemic as of late. I think our problem is just the opposite of what everybody else is saying (treating it like just another game, coming in cocky, etc.). Honestly, I think we are coming in with such a huge focus on having to beat our rival that we're actually beating ourselves. We come into the game tense and tentative, trying not to lose again. So, rather than trying to win, we're trying not to lose, and we screw up. As fans, we view games against UT as highly important and we want that game to be of huge importance and a major focus. But, I think the team needs to stop putting the game on this huge pedestal, because they've raised it so far up that they can no longer reach it or even see it.
ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: Game thread - Ball State
True, but we don't have to go back one, two, three, four or five seasons ago, we only have to go back a few weeks ago when they came into our house and kicked the $hit outta us before we knew what hit us. Toledo was up on us 30-7 right before halftime. I wouldn't expect any team in the country including the likes of Clemson, Ohio State or Alabama to do that to us. But Toledo did.kdog27 wrote:Each season is different. A loss from 5 years ago has no bearing on this one.

That's a good point. That could certainly play into our troubles with them.footballguy51 wrote:If UT makes the game next week, I'm not optimistic of our chances. You all can think what you want. Is #35 James Sanford injured? Harris had a nice game but is normally Sanford's backup. Sanford did not play at all.
