Durkin would be an interesting hire but doubt he leaves Ann Arbor as long as Harbaugh is there.

He's not going to take a MAC job anyways. He's worked long enough with big named coaches and big programs for a school to give him a shot at the P5 level. BG will be wise to look at the FCS level again and I'm sure Kingston will find the right coach for the program. It may not be a continuation of Babers' system.

As most know I subscribe to UM Scout and as of 8:54 PM Nov 29, I can tell you with certainty that DJ Durkin is NOT expected to take the Maryland job. I'm sure there will be a hefty pay increase coming his way that will take him from $800k to over a $1M per

First, thank you Coach B! It has been a fun couple of years.
I am disappointed at the timing and at the announcement. Somebody yakked to the press when Babers wanted to shield his players from the news. I hate leaks. I hope Babers is able to keep the players focused on the Friday game.
So barring a breakdown or a great counter offer from Kingston, we will be coach searching. For the second time in three years. I hope we continue the offensive trend. If I'm Kingston, I ask Babers how much it will take to keep him around, and if not then shoot big. Try to get Lincoln Riley out of Oklahoma. This job will be very attractive.

In this day and age with the Internet and social media, and if this is true, if more than one or two people at UCF knew, then everyone is going to find out. Everyone wants to be he inside source behind something. If this is indeed true and he didn't want anything to come out before Friday, then you conduct business after Friday.

Kendall Briles would be interesting...a lack of a Midwest knowledge would make me very nervous.

Is anyone on the current staff worth looking at? Lewis, he has a Matt Campbell feeling abut him.

Hopefully any new coach can keep Nick Monroe around. His ability to S Florida is one of the biggest reasons of the programs sustained success the past 4 years.

The part that stinks it, whether he is going to UCF or isn't, it's already become a distraction. But this is exactly why we must win the MACC. It was 21 years before our last MAC Championship in 2013. These opportunities don't always come around. We need to close the deal now because we have no idea what the future holds. There's no banking on if we don't win there's always next year. Next year could be in another 20 years. I'm not naive enough to think that Babers likely won't be at BG next year, but this is the kind of thing that's been on the back burner for weeks and then days before the most important game of the season it boils over and becomes a distraction and focal point. I'd love to see Babers stay at BG. But I understand he'll likely be gone and I understand the business. But in fairness to his players, this is a horrible time for this distraction, whether it's true or not, to surface. If he leads BG to a MACC and wants to leave, heck, I'd lend him a hand moving if need be. But let's finish the job and win the MACC first. A bowl game is secondary to December 4th. I saw he tweeted out that he needs the fans in Detroit. Well his players need him and his focus there too. If he's intent on leaving, trust me, there's gonna be a school that can pay him more that can wait a week.

That's exactly my thought too. Meanwhile at UCF the "sources" had to be the first to get the news out.

Obviously preperation for the game has been affected by this. This wasn't a back channel, having your agent talk to the school.
