Kirby Smart is taking the Georgia job so another school is off the board.

Some discussion about whether or not Mizzou AD Mack Rhoades has talked to Babers.

Barry Odom is apparently out of the running for the Memphis job as he's been linked to the Missouri gig.

There are currently 12 openings, seven of which are at P5 schools.

Candle expected to be named new Toledo coach at 4:30.

After raiding the Toledo recruiting cupboard at Iowa State. I must say Toledo appears to have handled this horribly. And I love it.

Jason Candle's recruiting pitch through the season...

Prior to 11/29/2015: "Come to Toledo...you'll love it here"

11/29/2015-12/1/2015: "Screw Toledo...it's a dump. Iowa State in Ames, IA is the place to be"

12/2?15 and beyond: "Iowa State...you don't want to go there. It's soooooo boring. Come to Toledo...that's where you want to be"

I expect to see him in neck collar because he has to have a serious case of whiplash
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Afternoon update!

D.J. Durkin is going to Maryland.

Friends of mine who live in western New York that are close to Syracuse believe Babers will be heading there and will be announced this weekend. Chris Ash who was a candidate has dropped out of the running, leaving Dino as the clear favorite.

DId Kingston use a search firm to hire Dino? I can't remember, but, don't think he did.

I find it hilarious that Toledo hired one, waited 4 days, had their Ex coach take his staff, start poaching Toledo recruits, pay search firm, end up with offensive coordinator who was already there. Amateur athletics!

My guess is they were hindered by budget issues, hiring freeze at UT begins Jan. 1. I wonder if the coaches they spoke to wanted too much money? Certainly an awkward situation for the players and Candle to be in.

They were willing to make Campbell the highest paid in the conference before he left. Just odd all the way around.

Eh, I think that report was largely just a for-show offer. There's no way Toledo was going to come up with the cash to match what ISU was paying. This is why having big buyouts on coaching deals needs to happen so schools can end up making money off of losing their coaching assets. I read that Campbell's buyout will be reduced as his bonuses are going to be factored into that cost.

Toledo offered him 1 million. It was reported that Iowa State's 2 million was double what Toledo was willing to offer.

As a side note...Babers maxed out on his bonus at, $182,500. So his buyout will be for the full amount even if BG wins the MAC title.

According to Mr. Schmeltz, Dino can still earn a $32,500 bonus for winning the MACC. His base salary this year was $408,000.

This could be wrong. But, I thought for sure his bonus was capped.
