BG v Terrible rappers who can't Dance

Post by Globetrotter »

28-27 wit a few minutes to go in the half. Look pretty good. They have a 7 footer that's giving us fits. Gomez playing some ok minutes.

They have two 7 footers actually that have given us some issues. Luckily neither can really play.

Team player pretty well considering the size we're giving up. Not sure we can count on 7-11 from three point range for another half though.

Have to say alcegaire looks really good these past few games. So much better when he's takingSirs shots in the flow rather than forcing it.

Alcegair has looked great and probably has the highest basketball ceiling of anyone on the team. And that's saying a lot because I think Lillard and Worrell are likely All-Mac players before they are done. Alcegaire has legitimate NBA size and flashes legitimate talent. It's just the shot selection and consistency. I'm not trying to say he will make the NBA. In fact I'd be surprised if he did. But he plays like a lot of guys who have had success lately and been drafted. If he puts it together we might have something exceptional.

I believe I flat out said I was going to give it more time before forming an actual opinion, but based on the first couple games I watched him play he was awful. Forcing shots left and right and barely making any of them. He has improved mightily.

Actually if the first 7 games are any indication of Huger's coaching ability I think we're all gonna be real happy here, because this whole team has improved mightily. There are a handful of guys that are playing the best basketball of their BG careers in recent weeks and some newcomers showing some skills as well.

I hope the development and improvement continues as the year goes on. We have almost no established players on this roster (Denny, Joseph, and Parker are really it), but we have more athletic ability than Orr recruited in 7 years.

His shot selection in the early games was as awful as I have seen. Shooting contested shots early in the clock constantly. He actually started the game tonight doing the same. Overall he has cleaned this up quite a bit. He has a ways to go but he flashes stuff few guys can do. What I said before was that he needed to shoot less or rather shootvsnarter and if you look at the statistics he has.

Wes was pressing early trying to find his way. Credit was and the coaches for getting him straightened out quickly.

Pressing is a great way to put it. I picture a guy being told how important he is to the team and really trying to take on that go to guy role instead of easing his way into it. I don't blame the coaches or him for that. He tried it, it didn't work that way and he has worked his way out of it and we are on a 5 game win streak!

First 5 games 15-49 30.6%
Last 4 games 17-38 44.7%

You still see him revert at times and shoot un-necessary contested shots or lower percentage shots early in the shot clock, but I think he really has made a remarkable turnaround.

Absolutely.

We haven't played much competition lately (although Drake is in the MVC, will be interesting to see where they finish), but this team has made major strides in the first month of the season. For a program that hasn't shown any ability to develop anything for most of the last decade, I'm pretty happy with how this season has started.

I'm pretty excited for the future here. I like what we're trying to do, and when we start getting more players that can do it we'll be in pretty good shape, IMO.
