A little out of the blue, but what about Bob Stitt? He has head coaching experience, he would keep the offense, and he would make an enormous splash. Everybody who follows the sport knows Bob Stitt is going to end up some day at a nationally top program. Why not have him lead BG for a while?jpfalcon09 wrote:If keeping Lewis or Lynch means running this offense still, I'm all for it.

Man I wish nothing but the best to coach barbers but I really think Syracuse is a terrible job.
Tough to win there. He'll get a huge raise but I wouldn't be surprised to see him looking for work in a few years.

Re: Dino switching orange colors?
I don't think it's terrible. They aren't completely void of a winning history like most of these schools MAC coaches go to.
Re: Dino switching orange colors?
Syracuse has a Heisman winner, at least one national championship, and a great history. At one point, Syracuse was a great program. The right coach can make them a yearly conference contender. Offensive recruits from Pennsylvania and east will line up to play for Babers.
And it's not Iowa State ......

It's a better opportunity than Iowa State, in my view. And he might succeed. This offense is still new enough to give him a bit of an edge. He'll be the only school in the ACC running this. This will get the attention of recruits, and as others have noted, the dome will protect this offense from the weather.hammb wrote:Man I wish nothing but the best to coach barbers but I really think Syracuse is a terrible job.

Re: Dino switching orange colors?
I'll agree it's better than Iowa State, but I don't view Iowa State as a good job either...probably one of the worst P5 jobs in the country, really.
I give major props to Dino for sticking to his guns and winning us a MAC Championship, but I view UCF as a MUCH better job (if he was even a candidate, I'm not sure) than Syracuse is. Syracuse has a history, for sure, but it is just that...ancient history. They haven't won 10 games since '01 and have only a couple winning seasons in the last 15. They typically have one of the worst attendance figures in all of the P5. Most importantly, they no longer get to play in the Big East which was a conference that never really emphasized football.
I'm not really convinced that the dome is a great advantage for the offense that Dino runs...when it's running well it's as much a running attack as it is passing. I don't doubt one bit that he can recruit, and certainly kids will want to play in that system, but it is Syracuse. It's in a conference where Dino will quite likely still be the lowest paid head coach in the conference. At its pinnacle I don't think Syracuse can ever hope to be more than 5th or 6th fiddle in the ACC football pecking order.
I'll be rooting for him to be sure. I love what Dino brought here, and I've enjoyed his tenure in BG as much as any coach since I started following the program. I just think Syracuse is a very difficult place to win, and even worse, a place that (looking at that history mentioned above) thinks they should be far better than they actually are. They're a basketball school that has moved to a conference where I really don't think they can compete. I hope to be wrong for him, but I think he's gonna have as tough a row to hoe in that conference as Clawson does.

And next year it will be Wake Forest vs Syracuse. Clawson vs Babers.

Hey Guys,
Our fan base is going nuts over the hiring of Dino. He got a 6 year contract for $2+ million per plus incentives.
The assistants budget has been doubled for him. He is going to be happy with our roster as we have a lot of young talent and some exciting recruits.
We have a new Chancellor and a new AD and we just put Mike Tirico on the Board of Trustees. The ACC has improved our budget by $20 million per year. All this adds up to a new day at Syracuse Athletics. We are about to announce a $400 million dome renovation project, which will not only be great for fans, but will be great for recruiting.
With Dino's style of play we all are confident that we will be able to attract the skill players we need to compete for ACC Championships. He is the best coach we have hired in 20 years.
His contract takes him to age 60 and I think he will retire here.
Hope you guys can find another great coach - you seem to have a knack for it!
Best,
Crusty

All that money to throw around must be pretty sweet. Keep dreaming if you think no one else has more to offer. I do agree he may retire there but it will be because he didn't get hired away, not because he didn't want something better.crusty wrote:Hey Guys,

Syracuse has a lot to offer....they're a P5 team with a rich history and the willingness to commit the resources to be relevant again...dismiss them at your own risk.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
