Erica Donovan?
Erica Donovan?
Two games in a row with NO minutes and no mention why. Injury? Discipline? I think she is good enough to play for us!
Maybe we should just drop the articles and box scores too.k

I have no idea what you were trying to say here. Care to clarify?factman wrote:...Maybe we should just drop the articles and box scores too.k

Re: Erica Donovan?
I think she was in a collision at the home game. I wonder if she has a knee injury.
Anyway, it would be nice if they would let us know.

Re: Erica Donovan?
In the Blade article today, it said she did not travel due to "personal reasons".

Erica wasn't at Cleveland State either. It must have been important for Erica to miss games. It would be nice to know the reason but things like this have always been kept "in house". It was like that during Curt's time here and I'm sure it hasn't changed with Jennifer. I'll welcome her back and she will play an important role in the rest of the season.

Re: Erica Donovan?
I'm OK with us not knowing. I have no idea what's going on, and it's none of our business anyway, but that's beside the point. The point is ... maybe Coach Roos and the staff were trying to keep Cleveland State and Virginia from knowing. Obviously, the team lost both games, so maybe in the end it didn't matter, but we as fans do not need to know EVERYTHING that's going on with everyone at all times. I'm sure people will disagree with me, and that's fine.HoopsFan wrote:...Anyway, it would be nice if they would let us know.

"personal reasons" works for me....
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Erica Donovan?
Works for me too, but I think it causes more speculation, than it stops. Odd, that for two games there was no mention at all, just no playing minutes.

Yeah, that was my point. Personal reasons work for me too, but a mention in the game notes would have been easier.

Yeah...I understand where you guys are coming from. I think the University has to walk really fine line with discussions like this given the climate re personal information and privacy rights. Who knows how many layers of approval a person has to go through these days to say something as simple as "personal reasons"?
Or maybe they were just being a bit lazy...I suppose either scenario could be true...maybe even both..
Whatever the case...I think once Santoro, Lambert and Tunstall have the opportunity to play together we're going to be looking a lot better. I really like Lambert's speed

Re: Erica Donovan?
I don't know Flipper. The team started to fall apart last year as soon as Donovan was injured. Then the report was wait till next year and these young players are going to get a lot better with the game experience. A look at the box scores indicate that has not been the case thus far with really most of them. They are basically all bench support or an inconsistent starter in the case of Rachel Myers. To me only Kennedy Kirkpatrick has shown that improvement that was expected. Hopefully, the MAC season will provide an upward impetus.Flipper wrote:Yeah...I understand where you guys are coming from. Re: Erica Donovan?
Not exactly attributable to Donovan, but the circumstances. Donovan, Webb, went down, there were only 12 or 13 scholarship players, Bolton, who had never played in a game anyway (or did I miss one), was never a factor, Kirkpatrick who was a freshman, and Siefker gets hurt. Now we have only 7 players. Hard to practice and rotate players into the lineup, and our tallest player on the floor is what, 6'?
This year, we're pinning our hopes on two freshmen, a trio of centers (good thing there!), and our workhorse players from last year who haven't seemed to play consistently, and we miss last year's best player, Donovan. I hate to pin my hopes on Donovan, but I think it will be her presence in the early season that determines whether we win or lose.
I think we'll be happy with this team by March.

Re: Erica Donovan?
Fred...definitely not trying to down play Donovan's importance. I've said before she's a...maybe the only...player we had going into the year who could take a game over. Looking down the road....I think Lambert, Tunstall and Santoro could give us three scoring threats.
