Bowling Green has never really recruited Texas that I can remember. Bowling Green, like other MAC schools, seems more focused on Florida.

The more important question is this: Did Kingston reach in order to try to achieve a worthy goal, which is to maintain our approach to offense?

I'm not saying Kingston did reach here. He has proven he has a pretty sharp eye for talent. (Ask Syracuse.) But, let's be honest: Jinks only has three or four years of college coaching experience. I respect Texas high school football as much as the next guy -- I watched Friday Night Lights, and all that. But, still.

Urban Meyer was only a receivers coach at the time we got him, so this kind of thing can work. But I hope we are getting the next Urban Meyer, not the next Gerry Faust.

As I was looking up more about him, I noticed Wikipedia already changed his article to say head coach of BGSU, previously associate hc at Texas Tech. Less than an hour after the news started getting out. I just thought it was funny that was already updated.

Same resume as Art Briles when he took over at Houston. Long time high school coach, 3 years as RB coach at TT, and on to Houston. We'll be in good shape if he has half the success of Briles.

I LOVE this hire. A few other schools were looking at Jinks. Coming from T.T and Klingsbury I think we will keep a similar offense. I think the key is to getting the best S&C coach.

Well he will be moving 1300 miles from Lubbock, TX to BG. Lubbock is flat and boring so he should fit right in here.

The guy rose from HS coach to a position coach to associate HC at TT in three years... that's some serious upward mobility.

I'll say this for sure... Kingston isn't afraid to take a chance on a guy he believes in.

Welcome to BG, coach Jinks! Kingston knows how to move quickly and under the radar. Surprised not one member of the media picked up on this. Here's hoping Jinks can convince those wavering on their commitment to stay.

Love it!

It looks like BG moved quickly, under the radar, and got an exciting young(er) coach. He's had a good career in Texas HS football and on a top-notch staff at Texas Tech.

I enjoy that the MAC consistently produces great coaches but it would also be nice to see a coach stay at BG and continue building our program. I thought Dino might be that guy, but maybe Jinks is. By selecting a guy without any college HC experience, maybe the BG admins feel he's going to stick at BG for awhile. It looks like we have a high energy guy that will hopefully run a similar high tempo offense to Babers and continue the success BG has had over the past few seasons.

Who decommitted? I have not heard anything.

According to BLADE Evan Foster, Terrance Landers , Kyree Calli and Dirion Hutchins

I guess it was only four.
According to the Falconblog. Salem also de-committed. Here is the link to that blog.

According to Texas news reports, Perry Eliano, will be the defensive coordinator for Coach Jinks. He is currently DB and special teams coach at University of Texas San Antonio.

Another young guy, graduated in 2000. Also another guy with most of his ties in Texas. Bounced between Stephen F Austin, Central Arkansas, and Sam Houston State before Texas San Antonio.

That was one fast hire. I'm willing to bet Kingston had Jinks on a short list. Perhaps they have crossed paths before and Kingston was impressed by the guy.

I also am a bit surprised we didn't go with a current head coach as our last two coaches had successful head coaching stints at the FCS level. But I am willing to bet Jinks aced his interview and impressed Kingston to no end. With the right support in place including administrative support, the transition to head coach can be alleviated.

I am looking forward to his introductory press conference! If he can make anything of a first impression the way Huger, Clawson, and Bergeron have in recent years, he will be an instant hit with the community. Welcome to Bowling Green, Coach Jinks!

Shows what I know....here I was calling the possibility of hiring Kendal Briles nutty and we go out and hire his doppelganger.

Looking forward to seeing today's press conference
