Nervousness, excited . . . whatever you want to call it . . . Coach Jinks was fine. I liked the way he talked about how they'll do everything with class because this "game eventually passes us all by"

Let's be real and let's be fair . . . The media did a half-ass/bullsh*t job covering this thing . . . Look at the questions that were asked . . .

Strack- Why now? Why you? Why this program? That group of questions doesn't deserve a response

Older Guy- Uh, ummm, uh . . . Do you have any ummm experience in the Midwest? or know anyone in the MAC? Again, terrible

Nothing about schemes? When do you plan on having your staff assembled? Have you watched film yet? What strengths and weaknesses do you see? What areas are going transition well? Mr Kingston said you haven't met the team yet. When do you plan on meeting with them? Will the staff be all Texans? How do you view your recruiting strategy changing if at all? When is the family moving to BG?

There are million questions that COULD'VE been asked, but weren't

If he didn't use the word "twat", he's miles ahead of Dino in his first year.

FWIW I thought the media did a terrible job. And not the coach. In fact if I was the SID I probably would have stepped in and started asking questions. LOL.

These weren't tough or unfair questions. To Strack's question, Jinks could have talked about what he brings to the program or why he's qualified or what led him to consider the job. As for the other question -- even if Jinks has absolutely no experience in Middle America, he could have pivoted back to what he does know and what he does offer. Tell us you are going to recruit in Texas, or tell us about something that sets you apart from other MAC coaches and qualifies you.

Jinks will figure this media stuff out.

The one-on-ones were better. The Sentinel-Tribune and Todd Walker both did interviews.

I just finished watching it and like many of you have pointed out, really awkward moments with so few questions being asked. Christ, if someone would've asked him what kind of cereal he enjoys eating for breakfast it would have been better than dead air. How and why do people show up to something like that and don't have any question??? I wish they'd have opened it up to us on here, like a Q&A blog, I guarantee we'd have asked more than 4 questions. Jeez. If I'm Mike Jinx after that presser I'm thinking in my head that no one really gives a s**t. That was disappointing and almost embarrassing. I also wouldn't mind if Kingston mixed up how he introduces a new coach. I feel like it's the same cookie-cutter method and description.

I thought they could have worn nicer ties.

And was it just me, or did the orange in the backdrop not look like our official orange.

I do think a fan Q&A could have helped, though it is likely a crazy busy time inside the AD's office to get Coach Jinks and his family up here and set up the presser, etc., along with daily duties of basketball and hockey season going on, much less collecting and sifting through a stack of questions from idiots like us. :D

Figured that would be the case. In this day and age of clicks, shares and page views, if you can get the new coach to say "I hate Toledo. My ex-wife is from Toledo and we'd be a lot better off giving them back to Michigan," you win if they say it into your microphone and not at the podium with everyone rolling.

Also, Todd did his before the presser, so there's one media member out of the mix asking questions at the presser.

I agree with what's already been said here ... the media wanted to ask their questions in a one-on-one format, and no one wanted to let the other media hear their brilliant  questions, so they didn't ask anything during the press conference format.

I would bet each of your salaries that if you went back and watched the Babers introductory press conference, it lasted about the same length of time and also featured only 3 or 4 questions from the media.

I do agree that it might have been a good idea to open it up to questions from the general public once the media got done asking their questions.

Followed by a mic drop.

I'd up my Falcon Club donation 10x. :D

I attended the Babers press conference and it was just as much of a train wreck as this one, with virtually no media questions. A couple fans decided to raise their hands to ask questions, and Babers called on them since the media was sitting around doing nothing.

Next time we hire a new coach (which probably will be sooner rather than later unfortunately), I'll collect a list of questions on here and take them with me. At least somebody would ask decent questions.

Just goes to show where MAC Football is on the college football ladder....the focus is on Ohio State, the Semi-Final games, and Big 5 job openings and hirings. This is news in Bowling Green and for people who follow the program......expecting the press to be in charge of making the introduction more exciting is being unrealistic.

Todd Walker's one-on-one was the best interview I heard from the local media outlets. Jinks mentioned that Tech ran one more play per game than BG did and hopes to continue that next season. He also said that he plans on recruiting Texas heavily, along with establishing himself in the midwest. I suspect he'll be bringing people on board that have some ties to the region. I think as long as he can sell the style of play and the recent success the program has had, he'll be in good shape.

Dave Hackenberg made me laugh out loud with the reaction of Coach Jinks' wife to moving to Bowling Green.

“I was looking at the Weather Channel page, and it said the forecast for Bowling Green was freezing fog,” Meredith recalled. “I said, ‘Mike, did you know fog froze?’ It sounded more like a super power.”
