If they can coach, does it matter? Everyone has to get their start somewhere.

It matters if they don't have recruiting experience.

My spouse does recruiting for a university and it's honestly not that difficult. The biggest thing the staff is going to need to do is brush up on the history of the program, establish connections in the area and reach out to areas the Babers staff recruited and touch base with those coaches that they plan on still going hard after these areas. That's why retaining Sowder was so important, he can be the lead man in all of this while the other coaches catch up. All the coaches have experience in coaching collegiately so they have experience recruiting, I'm not worried about that.

Dave Clawson's staff had numerous coaches from the 1-AA or FCS level. I'm in the camp if a guy can coach, doesn't matter where.

Recruiting experience is very important.

Dino's staff when he first got here was pretty thin on D1 experience....other than McCloud, they did well. Hopefully, they put together a decent class this year and move forward.

Harsh stuff from OB.

There is an inherent risk whenever you hire a coach with as little experience as Jinks has but I have total confidence that Chris Kingston made the right hire for the direction he feels the program should be going in. The Leach/Kingsbury coaching tree has a well-established track record so I'm not concerned about this. Additionally, Jinks is going to bring people along that he has established relationships with.

I guess I don't get all the negativity around this hire...I'll reserve that for when the staff actually has the opportunity to prove themselves.

My comment was just an observation, nothing more. I trust that Coach Jinks knows what he's doing and is bringing in the people that he feels will do the best job at their positions.

The fact that Kevin Kilmer last worked as a "quality control coach" gives me pause. So did that news conference.

But Kingston has made some great hires before. I think we have to give him the benefit of the doubt here that Jinks knows what he's doing. We had doubts about Babers, too.

There will be plenty of time for anger and recriminations later if this blows up on us. For now, let's hope Jinks can lock down a great recruiting class, and move on from there.

Hi All,

First, congratulations on all of your team's success this year.

Second, I'm hoping someone can tell me if Bowling Green has a webcast option for most home football games? University of North Dakota will be down there next season, and I'm really hoping there will be a way to watch the game. Anyone know if this is usually available, or am I going to have to stick to radio?

Good luck in your bowl game!

First of all, thank you! Most of our games this past year were on ESPN3, but that was probably due to the opponents we were playing. Hard to tell if the game vs you will be on as well.

BGSU's agreement, as part of the MAC, has allowed all games (at least of football...I believe it also covers basketball and volleyball) to be on ESPN3 unless they are with some other carrier (NBC, CBS, FOX, etc.). WBGU-PBS does all of the camera work for this broadcast, providing the students an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience.

Aren't you "Fighting Hawks" now?

It would be nice to get your hockey team down here for a series... :D

I would imagine it'll be on ESPN3. The previous home games BG has had against fellow FCS competitors have been on there.
