Time To Stop Complaining
I come on the board alot but rarely write anything and simply read what most of you have to say, however lately I have been getting really annoyed this board has turned into a complaint board. After the Ball State game all I heard was complaints ITS A WIN against a tough team. Most of you all did not even think we would win 10 games this year let alone 15 +. I think it time to give this team some credit no matter how ugly the win was they are one hell of a team with a huge heart. I am not trying to come down on anyone on this board or even be Mr. Positive, but this team has done a hell of a job this year and should be praised for its accomplishments

I don't think anyone here will argue with your sentiments. The men are having an amazing season and everyone here wants to see us finally make the NCAA tourney. What you have to understand is that as fans, we like to critique our teams. The people on this site are quite objective, (even though they been accused of having organge and brown glasses on) and are willing to air their concerns about things they may see at games. Being that I can't make a 5hr drive on a weeknight, I welcome their critical viewpoints, regardless of being positive or negative. This site doesn't always make me feel warm and fuzzy about BG. What it does, is inform me and others about a variety of things we would not have the time to research on our own. So keep the critical critques and information coming.

I agree there is alot of complaining there, and while alot of us are surprised by the success of the team, and realize its alot more than what we expected 3 months ago, we now see what this team CAN accomplish, and has even accomplished in games that they've given up and lost in the end, and THAT's where the displeasure comes in. It's not just "because they came back and beat Toledo, they should beat EVERYONE", its that they lose leads late, or games that they're "in", end up slipping away. If you think YOU could come in here and not have a complaint or two after the 4th straight 20 turnover game, you're a better man than most. And games like the WMU game at AA earlier, we saw how much less phyiscal we are, and how we were dominated in that game physically, and want to see an improvement there to be able to compete with ANYONE.
Besides, if you're a regular reader of the site, and are so concerned with the conversation here that you'd make your first post condemning others and their thoughts, you'd probably realize that we dropped the Sworden thing weeks ago.

I was actually going to make a post similar to this one, but not so much directed at the site as directed at BG hoops fans in general...
It amazed me that after a big win over Ball State on Wednesday night, the majority of the discussions I heard on the way out to the car were negative. I'm not sure why... we just had a big win to hold on to FIRST PLACE in the MAC West and most of the people I overheard were criticizing rather than celebrating.
When are we, as a collective unit, going to buy into the fact that this team knows how to win, has the HEART to win, has won some important games, and has a chance to do something big in the MAC Tourney??
Personally, I'm thrilled with this team and what it's done thus far!! I don't agree with every coaching decision, but when we win, I don't care!!!

Well Grant considering that you walked out with me and were talking to me, I guess I'll assume that you're directing that at me.
And you KNOW I'll find the negative in anything, sometimes
Seriously, I'm thrilled by how well our Hoops team has done this year. They've far exceeded my expectations and this is all gravy from here on out. If we lost the rest of our games this season it would be a major disappointment, but when you look back on the season you'd still have to say it was a major improvement over what was expected.
My only negativity from the BSU game, really, is trying to convince myself we won the game. I hate to see games come down to terrible calls (or non-calls in this case) by a ref. But that sort of thing happens. I didn't agree with the way we ran our offense for the final 8:00, but hey, we won I guess.

Actually, no, I WASN'T directing that at you... I was able to look at you and OptionQB and say "Guys, we won! AND we're in first place!!" or something to that effect.hammb wrote:Well Grant considering that you walked out with me and were talking to me, I guess I'll assume that you're directing that at me.

Well......
I'll say this if we did luck out on calls late in the Ball St game , we deserve it for all the horrendous calls we always get 90% of the time.So in many ways we might've been owed one. Thats how I like to see it.

True...we are in 1st place, and I'm both thrilled and shocked!ZiggyZoomba wrote:Actually, no, I WASN'T directing that at you... I was able to look at you and OptionQB and say "Guys, we won! I took the 10th & 11th off from work. Hopefully they're both needed for road trips to the Gund!

You think BG has negativity, come to UK sometime. These people are never happy with their team. It just comes with the territory of having expectations for a team that you think may get someplace. And now that everyone here is beginning to beleive we have a shot at the MAC and maybe a tourney berth, you're going to have people who have rasied their expectations and want to see BG not only win, but dominate opponents. It's part of the territory that comes with winning.ZiggyZoomba wrote:Actually, no, I WASN'T directing that at you... I was able to look at you and OptionQB and say "Guys, we won! Just keep winning games...so it was a boring game the other night for most of the game. A win is a win is a win...
I'm with Freak 100% on this. At this point in the season a win is a win no matter how ugly it might be.

Re: Time To Stop Complaining
Every so often, some ding dong comes out here, reads a few posts, and then post some fuzzy-headed, self-righteous blather about "complaining" and "negativity". Blah blah blah.curseofsworden wrote:I come on the board alot but rarely write anything and simply read what most of you have to say, however lately I have been getting really annoyed this board has turned into a complaint board. In actuality, there have been a plenty more positive comments on this board than negative. Also, IMHO, the negative comments have been generally on target and merited.
