BG vs GSU - Bowl Game Thread

Post by BGSU33 »

We're just a few days out, thought I'd get a game thread started. Looks like the weather is going to be crappy. The extended forecast has actually worsened as the game has gotten closer. That usually always favors the team that runs the ball better, and no one does that better than GSU. That said, I guess we'll end our season the way we started it, with weather issues. We had thunderstorm/lightening delays vs Tennessee and Maryland and played in crap weather at Buffalo to start the season. I just really hope BG finds a way to win this game and to wrap up a pretty damn good season on a winning note. That loss to Pitt in the bowl in 2013 felt like forever and it's carryover to 2014 was felt. Our guys this year talked about how winning last year's bowl made a big difference in the offseason and how much better it was. It just goes to show how this bowl game is important not only to this year's team, but next year's also.
GO BG!!!

Wednesday is looking awful, 90% chance of rain with possible severe thunderstorms. Has a bowl game ever been postponed by weather before?

I'm not sure. But, based on how this season started (and not just for BG), this would be the year for the bowl game to be postponed by weather.

It's an interesting question...I'm not sure what contingency plans the bowl would have if the game can't be played due to lightning.

Christmas Eve at 10:30 a.m. on ESPN3.

I'd imagine it would just get canceled, especially with travel plans to get players/coaches/fans/bowl staff home for Christmas.

I would image they would make an effort to play the game the following day. I can't imagine having these teams down there all this time and then say no game. I've seen games cancelled in the regular season before but those teams weren't there days in advance and they had games the following weekend. This is the final game for both of us. I'd imagine an early start the following day. I'm guessing BG chartered a flight and didn't fly commercial which would also help adjust travel.

As for a very likely weather delay, one would think BG would be better prepared for one as we've had several of them this year. Whatever we did against Maryland sure seemed to have worked well.

With Brandon Doughty's performance yesterday, MJ will need 356 yards passing to remain number 1 in total yards passing. I sure would like to see him go out on top.

Right you are BG71. Doughty put up BiG #'s against USF. How about MJ goes out with a bang and 500+?

Sounds like the parade they do in Mobile has been cancelled because of the weather tonight.

60% chance of thunderstorms at kickoff, tornado watches currently being issued back into Arkansas will need to be watched today. If there's a watch out for Mobile this evening, I'm not sure they'll play this game. Also noticed that the stadium prohibits umbrellas from being brought in, will be a massive disappointment to those who spent good money that now will no be able to go to avoid getting dumped on for 3 1/2 hours.

Weather appears it may hold out for the game which would be excellent news.
