Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
Does anyone know if he is indeed coming to BG? A few weeks ago when news first broke it said he planned to, but I've heard nothing else since. I would image of he does, he'll likely enroll for the spring semester.
GO BG!!!
Re: Davis Webb?
Haven't heard or read a thing either but I don't think if he is to announce that it won't happen until after their bowl game

Re: Davis Webb?
I think he has to actually graduate and finish the season before it can be discussed.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Davis Webb?
My buddy just sent me this from a newspaper in Lubbock. Looks like we're gonna have to wait and see if Webb decides to come as his friend said he's not going to BG.
Here's what he sent me:
Subsequent to the Toledo Blade report, Webb’s Twitter account had the following post: “Last time I checked we play a great team and program in LSU and I’m ONE play away. That is ALL that’s on my mind.”
Former All-America tight end Jace Amaro, a close friend of Webb’s, posted that Webb isn’t transferring to Bowling Green.
Nevertheless, it’s been a source of speculation all season. Webb could transfer as a graduate student and be eligible to play next season as a senior.
He would know some people at Bowling Green, too. Jinks, the Falcons’ new head coach, was Tech’s running backs coach the last three years, and co-offensive coordinator Kevin Kilmer worked as a Red Raiders quality control assistant.

Re: Davis Webb?
Just saw this tweet. Certainly doesn't sound like his mind is set on anywhere yet:
QB Davis Webb is transferring. Will visit schools this winter & enroll in summer. Eligible in 2016. Very talented QB.

If Hustle Belt tweeted that anytime since hours before the GoDaddy Bowl, they're more worthless than I gave them credit for.Falcon Commander wrote:two items (if true), looks like the door is Open:

Re: Davis Webb?
Should Davis Webb been paying any attention he would have known that around the go daddy bowl Matt had already agreed to play in the NFLPA bowl. Sixth yr decision made: not coming back
Re: Davis Webb?
Starting to sound less and less like he's coming to BG after all.
Per NBC Sports:
Rumors emerged shortly after Mike Jinks got the Bowling Green job that Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb would soon join him. Those reports were premature, but Webb confirmed Wednesday he is leaving Lubbock. Webb announced the transfer on his Twitter account. A junior, Webb is the third Red Raider gunslinger to leave Lubbock under Kliff Kingsbury, following Michael Brewer‘s departure to Virginia Tech and Baker Mayfield bailing for Oklahoma. He’s also the fourth quarterback in the Texas-Oklahoma corridor to announce a transfer, following Texas A&M’s Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray and Oklahoma’s Trevor Knight. Surpassed by Patrick Mahomes on the depth chart, Webb played in parts of three seasons for the Red Raiders, throwing for 5,557 yards with 46 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.

Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
It honestly makes no sense for him to come to BG outside of being familiar with the head coach. He was a highly regarded recruit out of Texas who will likely have some bigger sized programs wanting his services for a year. Unless there's a surprise, it looks like the QB next year will be fought out between Knapke, Morgan and Cunningham.

Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
I think we offer a QB transfer a lot...we have an offense that throws a lot, even if Lewis leaves, we still have Dieter, Moore, Redding et al to throw to, our OL is intact, we play on TV a fair amount and our conference isn't exactly known for stout defenses.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
I disagree with it not making any sense. I think it makes perfect sense. A chance to come in right away and play, to play in an offense that airs it out, on a good team that is defending conference champs, with a coach you are already familiar with, that plays a good number of games on TV (yes, I know some of them are mid-week, but they're still on TV), and also gets to open at Ohio State in the first game of the season. What's not to like about that? I think we have a lot to offer any QB who wants to come to BG.jpfalcon09 wrote:It honestly makes no sense for him to come to BG outside of being familiar with the head coach. Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
A player of his caliber isn't going to come to a mid-major for his 5th year of eligibility. He's going to have numerous opportunities at other P5 schools to come right in and start, get to play against better competition and in his mind try to raise his pro stock as much as he can.BGSU33 wrote:I disagree with it not making any sense.
