Agreed. He went from All-World to pretty good, which was a steep decline for him.kdog27 wrote:He was really pretty average the last 4-5 games. If he doesn't want a 6th year so be it, but I cannot fathom him playing a down in the NFL.
Hope for Matt Johnson 6th Year

GO BG!!!
Re: Hope for Matt Johnson 6th Year
What struck me down the stretch was how many sacks he took staring diwnfield waiting and waiting for something to come open. It's what took me from thinking he was a longshot to play in the NFL to me giving him almost no shot of it.BGSU33 wrote:Agreed. He just doesn't seem to process info and make decisions quick enough. Way too often the second half he was staring downfield hoping for lewis or Dieter to come free when Moore was underneath for easy gains.
Throw in the fact he's small by NFL standards, not an elite athletes, below average NFL arm, and played in a system that comes with major question marks off the bat and I just don't see it.
I hope to be wrong, would love to see a bg guy succed at qb, but he's not even close to the prospect Omar or Harris were, IMO. To me the only reason be sniffs a training camp is the huge stats he got playing in babers system.

Re: Hope for Matt Johnson 6th Year
We had the same pattern under Knapke last year. The offense rolled early... defenses figured it out and it was one long fruitless sideline route after another. From the second half of the WMU game on, the defenses figured us out and it showed statistically. I don't know if it's Johnson's fault if the coaches don't help the QB and his WR's to adjust.
Come pro day... if he makes enough of the throws they ask him for and shows he's healthy, he'll get a shot in someone's camp

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

He'll definitely get a camp invite with a decent pro day.Flipper wrote:We had the same pattern under Knapke last year. I agree on the offense though. Not sure who is at fault but we never seemed content to take what the defense gave us, instead hoping to hit big plays every drive.

Yeah, probably would have worked if it was a clear sky day... too many drops from open receivers down the field. I think the offensive game plan was way off base. Would have loved to see more of Travis Green yesterday. Plus, I didn't see much of Burbrink, who has been clutch in third and fourth down situations

According to the Participation Report on BGSUfalcons.com Burbrink did not play at all. Anyone know why?Bassdrummin wrote:Yeah, probably would have worked if it was a clear sky day... too many drops from open receivers down the field. I think the offensive game plan was way off base. Burbrink was hurt towards the end of the MACC. Colvin was also out with a cracked sternum.fredthefalcon wrote:According to the Participation Report on BGSUfalcons.com Burbrink did not play at all. Burbrink didn't dress for the game and I assume Colvin didn't either. Really a shame that those seniors who have contributed so much had to finish their careers by standing on the sidelines and helplessly watching that debacle last night.

For a guy who's lost a season to a cardiac scare like Colvin, a cracked sternum had to be pretty fricking scary
