Re: Roger Lewis eligible for the draft
Anyone else notice that Robbie Rhodes usually has at least two steps on the DB's when they actually let him play? Man...I hope he's back next year.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Roger Lewis eligible for the draft
With Dieter and Moore coming back, and if Lewis stays and Rhodes returns, plus Redding and Tupa (who looked very good in the spring game), wow, who wouldn't want to throw to that group? If Lewis returns BG would have one of the top WR units in the country.Flipper wrote:Anyone else notice that Robbie Rhodes usually has at least two steps on the DB's when they actually let him play? Re: Roger Lewis eligible for the draft
My guess is Lewis leaves. He's 22 years old and probably figures he won't have the chance to cash in on another big season like this. Much like MJ though I don't see him having any success at the next level since he's still rather raw and has a lot to learn.

I bet he is a starting WR by the time he is 25.jpfalcon09 wrote:My guess is Lewis leaves. He's 22 years old and probably figures he won't have the chance to cash in on another big season like this. I have a bad feeling he's going to leave too, but like you, I also think he's got a lot to work on and fine tune. The crazy thing is he actually has two years remaining in college. If he stays he's going to have another big season. We're not going to change all that much offensively. Heck, he could be targeted even more next year as we really spread the ball around to others this season. Matching his numbers this year would be tough because they were pretty crazy, but proving he's better would not be difficult. Scouts aren't blind to progress and development. But I do think he could end up regretting leaving right now. Which is why I hope he returns.jpfalcon09 wrote:My guess is Lewis leaves. I think he could very much regret leaving early because I think right now he's going to fall in the bottom 2-3 rounds of the draft, and that is an area where even a roster spot is far from guaranteed as a rookie. ESPECIALLY for a guy that doesn't project to being much on special teams.BGSU33 wrote:I have a bad feeling he's going to leave too, but like you, I also think he's got a lot to work on and fine tune. Getting taken in the 5th, 6th round means going into a camp as a virtual FA and getting only a few weeks and some preseason games to show you belong in the NFL. There are countless guys who went that route and were never heard of again. God forbid you get injured.
Coming back and trying to learn more of the route tree would be hugely beneficial for him. If you can get into that top 4 rounds you're MUCH more likely to be guaranteed at least one year with a roster spot and a whole year's worth of practices to show that you can develop.
It is possible to find success in the league from any draft position, or even undrafted, but in the bottom of the draft guys are fighting an uphill battle. If there is a chance to improve your stock into the top few rounds you should return and do so. Especially given that even an injury next year wouldn't ruin his shots considering he has the option of a 4th year to play. I'm the first guy to say kids should go pro as soon as they're gonna end up high in the draft, but it is absolutely foolish to leave early if you're not a lock for the top 3 rounds, IMO.

I agree with you. I hope he comes back for those reasons. I guess now we wait and see.hammb wrote:I think he could very much regret leaving early because I think right now he's going to fall in the bottom 2-3 rounds of the draft, and that is an area where even a roster spot is far from guaranteed as a rookie. Why because he can beat MAC defensive backs one on one? You have to have route running ability or break away speed at the next level. Night and day difference in separation between a MAC defender and NFL defender.Globetrotter wrote:I bet he is a starting WR by the time he is 25.jpfalcon09 wrote:My guess is Lewis leaves. He's got some red flags. He was shut down in the Tennessee game and put up pedestrian numbers the last 5 games with a bunch of drops. The Tennessee game stands out to me because they have NFL talent all over. They put their number one guy on him and we went to Dieter.
Don't get me wrong, I think he's awesome. Aside from Randy Moss and Greg Jennings I can't think of better WR prospects from the MAC but he has plenty to work on.

Re: Roger Lewis eligible for the draft
Antonio Brown....he had three great years at CMU, a proven ability to return kicks and a sub 4.5 40. He was only a 6th round pick.
Unless he just flat out warns to leave college, I don't think Lewis should leave.

Bingo. Jennings also had 3 great years.
And all of Jennings, brown, and Moss were better athletes.
I think lewis has a future playing in the league but he'd be a damned fool to leave now.
Re: Roger Lewis eligible for the draft
Bowling Green greyshirt sophomore WR Roger Lewis "has been speaking with agents and also has advisers to help him make [a draft] decision," reports TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline. Lewis is eligible for the draft because he spent a year in prep school after high school. Pauline added this interesting note regarding Lewis and a star conference mate: "Corey Davis of Western Michigan is also [speaking with agents]. Both prospects rank as middle round selections but are very much undecided to this point, though it seems Lewis is the likely one to enter the draft."

Re: Roger Lewis eligible for the draft
Per CBS Sports draft analyst Dane Brugler, Bowling Green greyshirt sophomore WR Roger Lewis "runs a limited route tree and needs to be more reliable finishing catches."

He's strong, fast, he has great hands despite his drops last week and he has great body control. He will be legit if he can keep off the blotter.
Re: Roger Lewis eligible for the draft
Two ways to look at this:
Roger Lewis @OttoLewis_
can't thank nobody but the man above for the year i had in 2015, can't wait to see what he has stored for me in 2016
