Remember Martin Bayless?
He is a former Falcon defensive back from back in the '80's and went on the have a real nice career in the NFL mostly with the Buffalo Bills. I think he is still the all-time interception leader at BG. Last night I happened to catch a program on the NFL Network that highlighted a football camp in San Diego that was established more than 10 years ago called the Martin Bayless Football Camp. The camp looked very impressive and featured a number of present and past NFL players as instructors. The camp seemed to have all different age-groups involved and according to the NFL Network hosts it is one of the very best of it's kind in the country.
It was nice to see how one of BG's best ever players is doing and the impact he is having after his playing days have ended.

He was a favorite of mine. I believe he had 9 picks one season... fantastic! Very cool about his camp!FALCON FLIER wrote:He is a former Falcon defensive back from back in the '80's and went on the have a real nice career in the NFL mostly with the Buffalo Bills. And that's still ridiculously better than anyone else in the MAC. I don't think anyone else has ever had 20.TG1996 wrote:10, actually.ZiggyZoomba wrote: He was a favorite of mine. I believe he had 9 picks one season... fantastic! Very cool about his camp!

You're right...Gerald Bayless was a very productive TE for the Falcons who followed his brother to BG.... We used a "drag pattern" quite a bit utilizing the TE much more than we do today.doughash wrote:Martin played for the Falcons while I was attending BG. He had the well-earned nickname of "Big Play". I believe he also had a brother who was a pretty decent tight end for the Falcons.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
Gerald was a load, for sure - big, strong and plenty quick. He was a nice outlet when combined with Meehan, Hunter & Boxley.Class of 61 wrote:You're right...Gerald Bayless was a very productive TE for the Falcons who followed his brother to BG....
