Wow. Throwing the coach under the bus? Let's go back 3 years ago. The Ali Mann thing is not even an issue. Not Roos' fault. Last year's lesson was that you don't hold scholarships and start the season with 12 players. So, all we're really talking about is this season. Two players left from last year; one an impact player, and one is injured. I think Miller's system works if you have fast players and sharp shooters. This team might have been competitive in the year 2003, but the MAC has improved since then. We don't seem to have gotten better. I guess the Miller era (and the Voll and Clark era before) spoiled us, but those were special times. We have very few injuries and players stayed 4 years. Roos has had bad luck or made some poorer recruiting choices. I know it's not a democracy, all players don't get to play X minutes to be "fair", but I'd still love to see different starters.

Roos needs to be more like John Weinert who could play the cards dealt to him. The Ball State game was a contrast in playing styles. They played motion, but when the ball was shot, the players were looking for the rebounds. So many times, our player would shoot and start running to the defensive basket. If you're 1-11 you ought to know that the ball is not going in and have an idea where the ball is going. That's what made Lauren such a valuable player. If Miriam is injured, then why is she playing 30+ minutes? Surely we have better players or can give more players some minutes to gain experience.

Anyway, we've lost to the "top" teams, so far. Clearly we're going to have to steal some road victories and beat the teams we're supposed to beat. We have 13 regular season games left and a 1-4 record. I think we need to win at least 9 of those games and make our record 10-8. A second under .500 season and league record is unacceptable.

I read harping on junior class for no development
Here's the roster:
Myers sophomore
Lambert freshman
Santaro freshman
Baer sophomore
Kirkpatrick redshirt sophomore, hurt freshman yr. didn't play,
Bolton junior medical retirement she won't play again
Justinger senior
Tibbs senior transfer from Marquette
Puk sophomore played last season with shin splints which almost put her on bench
Tunstall junior transfer from Owens CC
Siefker junior spent later part of last season on bench with shoulder problem that needed surgery before end of season tried to play hurt her choice
Cole freashman

please tell me who you are talking about when you say they haven't developed. It's hard to improve like you want when you are battling injuries. IMO last season did more harm than good. Playing hurt which some women did, playing out of position and playing long minutes plus losing so much gets to you. I think some of them are still tired from last season.

I'm still going to the games continuing with Northern Weds. and on through the season. I will see for myself.

If things turn out like most on here feel then I will say I was mistaken but not til game 18 is over.

Gotta stick with the team through the bad times as well. We have been spoiled but I refuse to believe Coach Roos is the issue. She knows hoops...period. As Sue pointed out, it's been a combo of things that have plagued us the last year and a half. And there is definitely a bias against BG with officiating, no question about it. But, ya gotta fight through that as well because it doesn't look like it will change anytime soon. Adversity can goes two ways...you give up or toughen up and get after it.

My reference to the BGSU women's basketball team as "girls" was not an insinuation that they were high schoolers. When my wife and daughters are together, I refer to them as "the girls", as well. Thus, there is absolutely no disrespect intended when I reference them as such. I find it interesting that only one blogger on this site mentions such a minuscule issue from my posts. I find that many posters on this thread seem to agree with my analyses of the games this season. I am honest in my opinions, and I will refrain from posting negative comments about other bloggers and their viewpoints. We post because we have comments concerning BGSU athletics, and each of us can agree to disagree with the opinions of others, without directing negative remarks toward the other bloggers, like "Have your resumes ready and if it comes to pass and be ready for others coaching over your shoulder." Our focus on this thread should be directed at comments concerning the team and the games they play, and not toward the other bloggers that you may not agree with.

I haven't read anything like that, but I've blocked BGSUE because reading her posts is painful. She and I have had our disagreements on here as well. It's easier to block her.

I am confident that if you were to poll members of the team, most would prefer "women" to "girls." The latter term is widely viewed as disrespectful or belittling; at least some of the team members would probably take it that way coming from someone they don't know very well.

If you didn't realize that, I think most of us can forgive you. Times change. Language changes.

The next step is up to you. Most of us are using the term "women" now, because we feel safe in assuming team members would prefer that.

The accepted terms..at least from a media/pr perspective are....

In HS,they're "boys and girls". In college, they're "men and women". Women's teams are no longer referred to as "lady Falcons". They're just Falcons.

Though in most cases it's unintentional, the term " girls" is thought to be disrespectful to college athletes.

I will so try to stay politically correct - though I sometimes find people are way too easily offended now a days!!! For instance the boycotting the Oscars!!! Don't see Al Sharpton complaining about the disparity of black to white professional athletes!!!! For goodness sake - we're all just people period!!!!
On a lighter note! TALONS UP!!!! Excited for Saturday!!!!

I agree, Hawk thrower. People get offended way too easily over stupid little stuff. As I said previously, there was no disrespect intended when I referenced team members as "girls", so no offense should be taken. However, I will not try to be politically correct, as political correctness, to me, is sheer stupidity in my book. Thus, from this point forward, in a show of respect to the players, I will reference them as "women". It boggles my mind, that with all that goes on with the team, that a petty object of my "political incorrectness" would move center-stage on this thread. Nevertheless, GO FALCON WOMEN!!!!! See ya Saturday!

Does this mean that when I go out to dinner with my 50 year old friends I can no longer say " I'm going out to eat with the girls? " or " girls night out ". Gonna be tough but I'll try! Lol

Women's teams at BGSU were never referred to as "Lady Falcons" "Lady Birds" one season back in the '70's but that was quickly changed.
Falcon = female and Tercel = male in the Peregrine family.

I was not attacking anyone with asking that BGSU Women's Basketball team be referred to as such. That's who they are. they are 18-21 year old women. Please reread your post. I'm looking at it as a woman. The athletics dept. says so too. We just don't see things the same and that's good.

Please realize that I'm analyzing things going on in the game as they're happening. From trying to " body English" the ball into the basket to helping change the refs mind or at least trying to get some calls. Old coaches never die just want best for players. . I can't change what happens but I am heard and have been told so. I've been asked to keep it positive which is what is wanted by all involved. I keep stats in my head and compare notes with my friends who sit around me.

If my posts are painful then block me, I see what's going first hand, have the glass half full and see how hard the women continue to work. As 1 of two fans from BG at NIU I was seeing new things with the women. Abby was shooting from spaces on the court that Jen Uhl was successful from in her time here. Kennedy gave us a BiG spark in the 2nd quarter to keep the "mo" going. Everyone had their chance since they all played. There were parents and a few friends of RK there also. Bench really makes it's own noise 'cause it's a 5 1/2-6 hr. drive from BG.

The media consistently referred to women's teams as the "Lady Falcons" for years...up until the early 2000's. In fact, I recall a number of people making an issue of it during that fan-fu**ing-tastic sweet 16 run.

I think people take issue with you because you tend to call them out for expressing their opinions when you are by no means shy about expressing your own. That and your have a Joycean stream of consciousness writing style that can be difficult to understand
