Speaking of QB's, BG has offered a Texas kid for 2017 out of Schertz, TX.

As far as next year, I'm not too concerned about the QB position. I suspect that Knapke and Morgan will battle in camp for the starting position, admittedly I hope to see Morgan get the job as I think he has a higher ceiling.

I'm a lot more concerned about QB this year manly because of the unknown behind Knapke. Last year we knew exactly what we had with Johnson and Knapke. If Johnson went down again we knew with Knapke could do and had done. This year we have no idea what Morgan can do if we lost Knapke. Of course, that's all based on Knapke winning the job. If Morgan wins it that would speak for itself. But he's still never taken a collegiate snap.

That's why I question starting any QB with only one yr Eligibility because we would have to deal with uncertainty again next yr. If knapke starts this yr, new under Jinks system, similar, but not the same. Next yr we have another QB without any or very little play time. I'm not saying James can't do just saying at some point a newby is going to have to play that only had had limited reps per game. Question is: is it better to do it this year and play James, or sacrifice James, I hate to say because he deserves better, this year and have who ever take it from here, gain the experience, so that next yr we have an experienced QB for longevity purposes.

I'd like to see the backup get a couple series early second quarter in the OOC games at least. Louisville did that years ago with Lefore(sp?) and Brahm(sp?). Lefore was clearly the starter but Brahm would get some meaningful playing time. It paid dividends later.

As someone mentioned earlier, we need a JUCO or some transfer to help build some depth at QB as well.

He had a pretty good year at Cal...might have fared better at Colorado...they were his actual1st choice apparently....
