BG is done it appears, including Skattebo they had 19 signees. Heavy on the defensive side of the ball with a lot of length and size. Also addressed the OL with 4 recruits. Overall I come away impressed and I think we'll see some of these guys get some snaps this year.

Jinks said they weren't going to reach for a player. The fact that they found 19 they wanted to be here feels pretty good.

I also must say that Jinks is seems to be doing a great job taking question from media today. He's much more prepared than during his first news conference.

I agree Schadenfreude- he rocked that press conference, complete 180 in my view from his previous on camera moments. Love his line about players didn't commit to a coach or a coaching staff, they committed to Bowling Green State University.

Indeed, as Jinks said it speaks more to the university and winning culture both Clawson and Babers have built here. This is a desired job and Jinks said as much this afternoon.

For those who didn't watch, Jinks said they're going to use their open 3-4 slots to seek out other JUCO players and graduate transfers to round out the class. 11 of the initial recruits from the Babers staff ended up holding their commitment which speaks volumes for where the program is at.

He admitted that the team will be thin on the defensive line heading into 2017 and that it's a major area of need.

Lastly, he said they'll be hitting "BG's backyard" hard this spring and summer to establish relationships in Ohio and Michigan and that the staff will be using their connections in Texas and Florida to nab a few players here and there.

Agree 100%. Today he looked and sounded like a head football coach. I have to wonder if the combination of fatigue and sheer shock that he landed the job was the result of the previous press conference.

One last note, he gave tons of praise to Chris Kingston who worked hard in keeping kids around during the transition. We have an awesome AD here.

He also had more to work with from the media side. (And still got a little dig in at the end. ;) )

Updated to include Marquis Zimmerman...someone must've been asleep at his high school today and faxed over his NLI a little too late.

Some schools have afternoon ceremonies for the kids to sign their letters in front of the student body and guests

Good to hear. Love the skill we got in this class, but all the remaining spots should be used on the defensive line.

It's exciting to read about some of the new WR's being "game-changing" players, and when that phrase was used I immediately thought of Roger Lewis. In almost every game it was just a matter of time before one of his deep passes connected and either altered the course of the game or solidified a lead. Those are enormous shoes to fill and hopefully we found a player or two with similar ability.

I'm pretty thrilled with this class, all things considered. Kids know BGSU and the MAC these days and we seem to have landed very good talent and character. Haven't had a chance to watch the presser with Coach yet but will tonight.

That was the first time I have been able to watch Jinks speak at length .... and I was impressed. He had good energy and focus, and he had the right talking points while also answering questions directly. And his focus was on building the program, not on a new offense. The offensive system is taken for granted in his press conference.

All around I came away impressed.
