BG vs WMU

Post by gmartin »

Only 2 minutes in and BG is already down 9-0

0-3 shooting, 2 turnovers, 2 missed free throws and Worrell already has 2 fouls. I thought this would be a win but already almost down double digits

I'm listening to it in radio instead of watching it but Tisdale, Fox and Gomez all on the court at the same time and Gomez has given up 2 short range shots already. We have to have a better option than Gomez. He can't shoot. He can't defend. I'm painting and I'm not sure what is worse, watching the pain dry so I can see where I need a second coat or listening to this game.

How the f**k do we not have anyone on the team who can shoot a damn free throw?!? WMU hasn't won a single road game all year and they have use down double figures on our home floor at halftime. This is just s**t basketball by BG.

Wow!!! Is this game as bad to watch as it is to listen too... Sounds like our defenders are not even guarding the ball. Wilder and Haymond whom combine average 35ppg and only have 10 and we are still down 11.

BG down 41-30 at the half. Shooting 2 for 12 on 3's and 3 for 11 from the line. Really under 28% shooting from the line. A loss today and a Miami win and we drop to the #12 seed. Going to watch the 2nd half on ESPN3. It has to get better.

I'm watching. Trust me, watch the paint dry.

Couldn't make the game cuz I've got friends coming over this afternoon. Just flipped it on espn3 and saw the last few minutes of the first half. Pretty rough finish including letting a guy get all the way to the rim for an easy layupbwith under a second left. Blech...

Missed free throws. Turnovers. Denny scoreless. Sounds like a broken record. Same things every game.

We are getting manhandled down low. Dugan and Lamont today. Akron killed us down low. Booth at UT. We need someone bigger than 6'9 defending the paint.

6th straight loss at home.

Denny didn't play last 16 minutes and was scoreless

BG now drops to #11 seed

BG was 15-32 from the line, with 6 misses on the front end off the 1 and 1. How can you miss 17 free throws.

They should summon these refs to the league office on Monday. The weren't biased, just BAD.

For our part, the 15-32 says it all. Sure, we have Matt Fox 1-1 from the field because out guards can't pass the ball to him. Hey! Look up, the guy you're trying to shoot over is 6'10!

This team is a complete train wreck right now. WMU gave us every shot at winning that game at the end and we failed. Miserably! Our rec-center PG Ali missed 3-4 free throws, Parker forced his shots to try and get a call to no avail, Wiggins made free throws look like full-court shots, Joseph was in such slow motion he turned the ball over by himself. And nearly all of that was in the final minute of play. Denny has somehow morphed into Luke Kraus and it has become hard to tell which of the two was a poorer shooter right now. And how in God's name can that many D-I players make free throw shooting look that hard? It's a "free" throw! It's called that for a reason. We could have pulled someone out of the stands to do a better job. It was pathetic. That's now 6 straight home losses, 7 losses in the last 8 games, and a team that hadn't won a damn road game all year just beat us at home where we now have a losing record on the season. And here I thought we'd seen the last of Orr-style basketball. It's just pitiful. Even under Orr we were some how good enough to at least earn a first-round home game in the MAC Tournament. But right now, we're destined to lock up the bottom seed and I'm not even sure we've ever done that before. Make no mistake about it, BG is the worst team in the MAC. And likely just lost its only shot at another win all season. Simply awful.

There's no excuse for it. And free throws are one of the thing anyone can practice and work on by themselves too. You need a ball, a basket and a painted line. Last time I looked, the Stroh Center had all three on main arena AND in the practice court. It amazes me that you can see guys jump out of the gym like very few can, yet, can't make a simple free throw that many are able to.
