Nice Win Over Arkansas Little Rock
Nice to see the Falcons hold on and put the MAC at 2-0 in the Bracket Buster competition. It seems when BG gets up early they can withstand any comeback but when we struggle early it is so much harder to come back. I am at work so did not see or hear the game. How did we play and what was the crowd like?
Pretty good crowd today. Loud throughout the game and that helped. We got up by 20, 32-12 early in the game and looked like it could be a blowout. We went cold and it was 34-21 at the half. We score the first 6 of the second half to push it to 17 again and it looks like it could be over early. Alas, we couldn't hit the broad side of the barn the rest of the way and the Trojans kept fighting eventually tieing it at 56. But we then got it togehter again at finished them off 74-66.
Can not say enough about Riemold and Almanson. Twenty-nine and twenty-seven respectively. They carried us again today. If they keep this up and some of the other guys start comtributing a little more, we could win out. Good win today.

This was the first game I got to watch since I was at the UIC game early in the year. Almanson and Reimold deserve keys to the campus. Even when JR had 5 or so around halftime, I knew he'd end up with 25-30, and Almanson looked like he wanted to run away with the game himself in the first 10 minutes. A great effort and great leadership, hopefully we can keep it going through the MAC tourney!
Oh yeah, the crowd looked good, too! (I was at a bar without sound, so I don't know if the noise matched the numbers, though!)

Give the crowd some props today. It was better (still plenty of seats) but those who were there (even us old foggies upstairs) were into it when it looked like it might flip the other way. What a great "gut check" to come out and win after blowing the big lead. This "upexpected" season has been a treat. Four tough games left. Get out to see the home games folks -- you know where to buy tickets -- two sellouts to send this bunch to the GUND.
For once, I was totally impressed with our student section!! On their feet and loud the whole game...that was just awesome! Glad we got a win, too! I don't mind that they caught up because the crowd stays in the game that way. It was just a great day!!!!

I hate to say it, but I think Coach's words did help rally some people for the game today. I think the BG News thing helped. I even think the starting lineup stuff helped because it got fans into the game right away. A nice crowd and a fun crowd when it could have been blah and blah. Let's look for a sell-out against Miami!
I thought the crowd was really into it! It really helps that everyone was loud from the get go, because it set the tone for the rest of the game. I would begin to call a chant and realize that someone else had already started it in the stands!! Crowd involvement was awesome and I hope it stays this way!!
I have a question for you all. What do you think about the FALCON spellout thing we did at the game?

you could tell some people didn't understand what was going on at first, but they caught on by the second guy. i liked how the announcer slowed down between players when he realized what we were doing.BGDrew wrote:Hockey Style: When the other team is being announced, after each name you say in unison: "Who's he? NOBODY!"
and we definitely got in that one guy's head... number 54 i think, it was definitely one of their big guys, when we started the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... 13 or however many seconds it took for him to take a free throw. he was throwing up bricks and was visibily upset on his last few trips to the line.
but it was a great showing by the fans and us students. loud the entire time and not getting down on the team when they were blowing the 20 point lead. that's the type of performance we need against miami on sunday.
