No more winnable games left this year

Post by BGSU33 »

My how BG has fallen over the last month. Prior to the UT game, BG was getting publicity such as being labeled the most solid team in the MAC, Huger was an early MAC coach of the year candidate, and 20 wins and a postseason tournament looked well within reach. Then....WHAM!!! Reality set in, and BG has been body slammed back to Earth. Looking at our remaining games this season, it's looking very unlikely to see this stretch of losing end. In fact, it could carry on for the rest of the season. We have four tough road trips remaining and three more home games in a place we can't win either. I think the next game vs WMU is about the only winnable game left, and by no means is it a lock whatsoever, but sadly it might be our last shot at win. After that, where else is a win likely to come? We then have to play at NIU and UB, then face an Ohio team that is finally playing up to its talent level and is red-hot, followed by a trip to Akron which is a guaranteed loss and feels like a team we haven't beaten since the Nate Thurmond era. We then wrap up with games at KSU then vs UB. We're also essentially a lock to have to open the MAC Tournament on the road and are currently just a game away from being the lowest seeded team. I can't see winning more than two games the rest of the way. One of them could come this weekend and maybe we catch another team having a bad night and grind out one more, but that's about it. Thoughts?

I agree with your assessment but even though OU has been playing very well I see BG winning that game. BG for some reason has been OU nemisis. I see 2 more wins and finish at 6-12 as the #10 seed.

Ohio vs Buffalo is on ESPNU right now and OU is kicking the holly living hell out of UB. Ohio is already up 21 and it's not even halftime yet! OU's Campbell and Dartis are shreading UB as the two of them are outscoring UB's entire team!

There's just no end in sight for this losing streak. I honestly believe it won't end until next year.

I've lost track, we've lost what, 9 of our last 10 now including 7 in a row? This has to be approaching one of the worst losing streaks in school history. Not the kind of streak I was hoping to see in our 100th year of basketball. When we were 12-5 overall and 3-1 in the MAC, I was starting to wonder if we had a little magic in store for the centennial season. Now we're 13-14 overall and 4-10 in the MAC with no end in sight for this losing streak.

I'm beginning to get more worried about beyond this year. Games like today don't happen often with great coaches.

Why do we keep starting all the same players when we have one 1 game in ten tries?
