ALL MAC Team

Post by gmartin »

BG did not place a single player on 1st, 2nd or 3rd team All-MAC.

Spencer Parker did make Honorable Mention.

No BG player was selected to the freshman team. I though maybe Lillard had a chance to make the Freshman team.

In the grand scheme of things, could you think of any player that was worth making all MAC? If they had waited to vote yesterday, I would have put Antwon on the all Freshman team. A week ago, probably not.

I love Lillard's game, and I think he can be a good player, but I don't know that he deserved all MAC freshman honors (do they do multiple teams or just 5?) For all MAC, maybe you could argue Parker was better than HM, but nobody else even deserved to be in the discussion at any level.

I think Lillard's numbers will balloon next year. The thing with him is he's been so inconsistent, but it's NOT his efficiency/ability that seems to be inconsistent. It's his assertiveness/involvement that fluctuates. He's been awesome the last 2 games, but barely scored at all the 2 games prior to that. What I love though is he is that consistent 50% FG shooter (or right around there) whether he's taking 2 shots or 10. We need him to embrace that scoring role and be AGGRESSIVE. So long as he's consistently getting near the rim, and finishing around the rim at the rate he's done it all year he needs to do it MORE.

We had 3 freshmen shoot over 50% of the field, but they only combined for under 20 points per game. Those guys have to be a bigger part of the offense next year. I don't want Alcegaire & Denny taking 600 shots shooting < 42% from the field...
