THREE current OSU frosh have announced they will tranfer.... Also Frankie Hughes, 6'5" guard from Garfield hts has decommited from Louisville.... 1st team all Ohio.

In short, LOTS of possible talent, tho some would have to sit out a yr.

Michigan's Ricky Doyle is moving on....bench guy at UM, but at 6-9" and 250 lbs he could give us that inside hammer we lack. Spike Albrecht is leaving too...but I think we're good at PG. Then again..Spike can SHOOT and he could play right away. Doyle has to sit a year.

I can't remember so many transfers ever. Maybe I say that every year. I think it's making more and more logic to have that 13 spot on your team be guys who are transfers from other teams sitting out a year.

If you have been following the transfers it's somewhat fascinating and makes me a bit apprehensive about the future. I could see a model of

1. OSU recruits a bunch of guys, forces out the guys who don't make it after 2 years.
2. OSU then backfills their roster with the guys who were good at OU, BG, Kent, Toledo, grew up OSU fanatics and graduated.

There is also the third perspective.

1. Kid goes to OSU, doesn't play immediately, transfers out to get playing time somewhere else....we get him and he is a stud and has already transferred once and doesn't want to again.

At any rate teams will benefit from helping kids to do just well enough to stay eligible but not good enough to graduate early or in 4 years.
