I'm sure it's situations like this that caused him to get out as quickly as he did.Tech2000 wrote:Wonder if Chris K is in Texas or where ever thinking dodged that one!
I'll be at the coaches caravan tonight and I wonder if this will be addressed/asked. You'd think after the Jans incident that those in the athletic department would have educated all coaches on what not to do. It's a terrible look on the university and if players were kicked off the team around the same time last year for a similar incident, surely both of these guys are gone and the grad student better not hope he's removed from campus altogether.

We have no idea what really happened.
Re: Todays Toledo Blade
Did you read the story. They were asked to leave the bar, 20 minutes after is closed at 2:20am. They refused to leave and punched someone in the face. That's all I need to hear.Globetrotter wrote:We have no idea what really happened.

Globe, how much more do we need to know......
Two Bowling Green State University football coaching staff members were cited for assault over the weekend after getting into a bar brawl when they reportedly refused to leave at closing time.
As a result, one of the coaches has been placed on administrative leave.
Marcus White, 34, from Alabama, and Kenneth Williams II, 23, from Texas, were cited after the staff at Liquid bar, 238 N. Main St., called Bowling Green police for help Sunday at 2:22 a.m.
According to BG Police Major Justin White, the report from the incident said Marcus White and Williams were reportedly refusing to leave the bar at closing time, so the bar staff attempted to escort them out.
“They became belligerent with bar staff,” Justin White said.
Marcus White allegedly punched one employee in the face, breaking his glasses. Williams reportedly punched another employee twice in the face, busting his lip.

OK...what series of events do you reasonably think could have transpired that makes this OK.Globetrotter wrote:We have no idea what really happened.

Re: Todays Toledo Blade
Maybe Chris Jans was the bouncer at the bar and he was the one asking them to leave.

This is one side of the story. I have meant many bouncers who were over aggressive jerks. One beat a guy outside of BWs in BG if memory serves me. I will wait until I hear both sides. The university doesn't necessarily care about the people working for them. They care about their image.
Re: Todays Toledo Blade
There are plenty of explanations to the course of events that don't end up with the coaches being found guilty of assault or ending up in jail.
There are very few, if any, explanations to the course of events that end with me thinking they are still viable candidates to teach/lead young men on a football team.

Drinking at a bar does not disqualify you from being able to do these things.hammb wrote:There are plenty of explanations to the course of events that don't end up with the coaches being found guilty of assault or ending up in jail.

Being at a bar that I would never associate with "hanging out at the bar for a few drinks" is a start.Globetrotter wrote:Drinking at a bar does not disqualify you from being able to do these things.hammb wrote:There are plenty of explanations to the course of events that don't end up with the coaches being found guilty of assault or ending up in jail.

Being there until 2:20 AM makes me think hmmm....
Then doing ANYTHING to get the cops called on you pretty well disqualifies you in my mind, whether their actions were justified or not, that's a 3rd strike.
I don't know, maybe the guys were walking down the side walk, said something they shouldn't have and were defending themselves against an overzealous bouncer. It's possible there is some very strange off the wall course of events that would mean they'd still be worthwhile in their current roles.
But to be quite honest if I've got coaches closing down college bars like Liquid, I'm almost happy they got into a scuffle with a bouncer to give myself a good way out of their contract. Because I find it tough to believe that anybody hitting the bars at 2:30 is the type I want leading a football team. Coaches always preach the "Nothing good happens at 2:00 AM" line...you think you can say that with a straight face if you in fact are an example of it?
