Post by momtartin »

Falcons win 77-73 at Kent. What a game! We needed that win, it was a big one.

It was nice to see them get ahead early and hang on, rather than get behind and have to fight their way back in it. They did a nice job of answering kent's runs in the scond half.

Oh My God...I just finally got done watching the game on tape.
G U T S Y. I can't say enough. That was an incredible performance. Ya knew Kent would make the runs...that Wyzneski (sp?) was unreal.

You guys that follow hoops more closely than I? ENJOY this one a little more. We all should be very proud of this team's efforts.

BTW, at the end of the game, ya see Coach D high fiving the team as they leave the court. Some Kent student looks at Coach and snickered "Nice combover", and started laughing. Coach D, with a huge smile, turns and replies with an intersting comment....I have my ideas of what was said.

I think "Dan Ask Dan" next weekend should address what was said! In a clean manner of course.

Grant,
Can ya dig for a little info? LOL!

GREAT WIN FELLAS....I feel so much pride for the character of this team. Can't wait to get there on the 19th for the Bracket Buster.

Yeah, my VCR never turned on. It's still set to record at 1:55pm on 2/12 though!!

Kent was ranked 39th in the RPI coming into today's game, despite having 7 losses. I was a little surprised by that when I saw it earlier.

This game was huge for MAC tournament seeding. The top 9 in the MAC are all between 3 and 6 losses, with 8 of those teams having 5 or 6 losses I think. 1 of those teams with 5 or 6 losses right now will end up playing on the road in the first round of the MAC Tournament. Just keep winning and we'll play at home in the first round or maybe, just maybe, we can win the West and get a bye! With 3 home games left and a game we should win on the road at Northern, I think we have a good shot at it.

Gotta love the "Dan Ask Dan" segment of the show. Anyone catch today's segment? He was talking about "lifting" with Randy Whitman at IU and how instead of lifting they would just fill out the lifting chart on a guesstimate on how much they think they could lift and then splash water on their faces like they've been sweating. Of course he did say that they did this the year after IU had won the National Championship so Coach Knight wouldn't have minded too much as long as they won.

Wonder if this would go over well if his players did this

Hilarious story today on the show...and it was great to see Germain Fitch get some time with Brad Fanning...I feel so badly for Germain. He has a ton of heart.

Steven Wright...is it just me or does this kid seem to be playing on another level? Sure he turns the ball over here and there but man is he electric!
Vandermeer played well. Received the "Freshman" treatment from the refs on a couple fouls but he is fun to watch.
Course Reimold, Almanson and the rest were equally huge.

Way to represent Falcons!

No it's not just you...it seems like Wright is playing a lot harder than he used to and though he does turn the ball over he actually is smarter with the ball. Big think is he hustles and goes to the hoop. Something that was lacking. He could be something special if he continues to go at this pace. As of now I'm happy he got his act together and stayed with the team.

No doubt...His decision to buckle down is paying huge dividends.

It sure is nice to see this happen; a stark contrast to a certain selfish player who left the team over the summer...

But no need to dwell in the past. Today's win was big, but we need to come back at home this week and beat BSU.
DD talked on the show today about one of the teams in the West separating themselves over the next 2 weeks.
WHY NOT US?

He could use some help on his shooting but he is turning into a really great player!!

This is from the Rocket Report:

I hit a nerve with Dakich
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was at the Kent-BGSU game on Saturday. After BG won , Dakich stood at the end of the court to congraulate his players. He was next to the student section and was hammered with curse words and others expressions. He ignored all until I yelled, "Dakich nice combover." He turned from hugging Wright and said very pissy "This is all the hair I have." Great moment for a UT fan.

This kid thinks he's special because he joined the I Pissed Off Dan Dakich Club?

I can't believe it took him this long to join. The Pope's been a member since 1994.

Sounds like he's still stroking over it. If that's what gets him off, he's got a LONG way to go in the world of heckling.

Besides, since when can a UT fan make fun of a basketball coach's hair? Or a basketball coach in general?

That was it?? Must have been another kid cuz Coach wasn't hugging Wright when this choch nugget said "Nice combover" to Coach. He was high fiving members of the team. Isn't is great to win another team's house? The best they could do is hurl insults?

At least we'll have our coach next yr. BTW, rockette boy, didja notice what team is in first place in the West? HAHAHAHA!!
