BG vs Tennessee 2020
BG vs Tennessee 2020
BG is finalizing a deal in which they will play the Vols. This time on their campus and in 2020. BG also has an OOC game against Illinois that year. 2 Power 5 road games again in 2020.

Re: BG vs Tennessee 2020
I suppose we will debate this decision for the next four years, just as we did the last time we scheduled Tennessee.
Tennessee will be tough, but not impossible. Illinois -- like Purdue and Maryland -- is winnable. So I'm okay with this.
My guess is that other two games in 2020 will be home games: One involving a G5 FBS team and one involving an FCS team.

Re: BG vs Tennessee 2020
I've always thought of Illinois as a Big Ten West sleeping giant. Major state university with a small private university as an in state rival. Access to great recruiting in both Chicago and neighboring states. Some major successes in program history. And the Big Ten West is wide open. Can Lovie Smith awaken the program?

You bitch when I say that we're not a truly D1 program...you bitch when we schedule the P5 schools...you need to pick a side in that argument.

At least we have something to argue about for four more years. Hopefully our other ooc games get changed to Clemson, Alabama and LSU.Flipper wrote:You bitch when I say that we're not a truly D1 program...you bitch when we schedule the P5 schools...you need to pick a side in that argument.

Camp needs to open up soon because all of these threads just devolve into the same two or three arguments.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: BG vs Tennessee 2020
You've just listed 2 different classifications. Division I (more specifically Division IA or FBS) encompasses 128 schools while the P5 encompasses schools from 5 specific conferences within the FBS. We're very much a "true" D1 program and have the potential to disrupt the P5 cabal even more like Houston is poised to do this year and as NIU almost did.Flipper wrote:You bitch when I say that we're not a truly D1 program...you bitch when we schedule the P5 schools...you need to pick a side in that argument.
I bitch when decisions are not made in the best interests of the program, and you can usually tell what those are when the people who freely admit they don't like or care about football anymore applaud them.

Re: BG vs Tennessee 2020
A D1 that includes 128 teams is a quaint little fiction. The D1 that actually gets paid and therefore exerts 100% of the influence over the rest of college football is the P5.
Paying the bills...keeping the lights on and the kids fed is job 1. If scheduling more money games means taking less from the college...the kids who could really give a crap about sports...than schedule as many as you can.
