Actually, isn't the "standard width" of hips and ass about 18", for (most) seating purposes? And waist doesn't matter nearly as much, since most people's shoulders are at least a little bit wider than their hips.

I was just going to say that you men are forgetting a key factor of female anatomy and physique. We usually pack more in the rear and the hips than we do in the waist.
