"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Hope they think to include grab rails in the aisles.... Keep waiting for someone to fall... And hoping it doesn't happen. This would be a REAL "fan friendly" addition.

There were a few pics posted recently on the "BGSU Fans" page on Facebook. Most of work so far has been small cosmetic corrections (cement reinforcement, replacement of studs) and waterproofing. You likely wouldn't notice it in person unless you looked really hard.Falconfreak90 wrote:Thanks for the update FF! 80 days to go til kickoff...any pics???
On the larger scale, it's nice to see that there is a least a plan in place to give the Doyt a much needed facelift. We can obviously put the rest the debate about a new stadium as that does not appear to be in the offing.

YES!!! I have bad knees and those steps without railings are horrible for someone like me! I would think if they are renovating, that opens them up to update their ADA requirements, which I hope happens!Class of 61 wrote:Hope they think to include grab rails in the aisles.... Cannot wait to see the new turf! The current one has worn quite a bit.

How tall would you make them? Railings running down the center of the aisle about shoulder height with the people sitting in that section...that should be OKfalcon83 wrote:Grab rails will probably obstruct the view of some.

I love the new turf design. It's simple and effective. But the best part is "TalonsUp" is NO WHERE on the field!!!!!

The design is solid...I personally like brown being our primary color more than orange, but it seems like BG seems to prefer orange. I'd just change the end zones to being brown. It's the Journey... wrote:I love the new turf design. It's simple and effective. But the best part is "TalonsUp" is NO WHERE on the field!!!!!
Re: Upgrades to the Doyt
I like the design, I prefer the orange so that was good to see. I also like the font used on the numbers on the field as it matches the front we use on other things. Nice touch. I also like the way the shade of green differs every other 5 yards, I've seen that at a number of other venues too.
My one question though is, I wonder why we aren't going back to the FieldTurf brand again? It's what we put in the first time. I have an employee whose brother owns a company that does similar install projects and said FieldTurf is far and away the best turf product out there, that it's not even close. Especially with their patent on the type of infill that all other companies cannot replicate. I'm guessing this other company gave us a lower bid, but I know FieldTurf gave Ball State a great bid to do its recent replacement over again. And when you look at the list of installs who used FieldTurf and those who use this type, it's not even a comparison. I hope we don't regret going with a lesser company/product here if it was solely to try and save a little bit of money.

Won't be a lesser quality product. FieldTurf is excellent and your friend has good contacts. But the product we will play on is not lesser. This will also be a high quality product. In an earlier time, anybody who didn't put in AstroTurf was getting an inferior product. In theory
Our players and recruits will love it.
