Uh, tonight it was their game. They were off with their shooting, not getting rebounds, defense was slow. It was just an overall off night.

Do Emus have humps?

I think that once we get to the Gund, this team is going to be ready. Every woman on this team, excepting the freshmen, were there for the great - and TOTALLY unexpected - run we made there last year. They know what it is going to take to win, and I fully believe that they will win the whole damn thing. They are just too good and too dominant right now. This game it seems (judging from the numbers) was just a hiccup before we breakout for good.

EMU has our number right now...another close, hard fought game. We have no time to hang our heads cuz the 1st place Marshall Thundering Herd rolls in Wed night....then we have the rematch with the Rockettes on Saturday for SR day. EMU is within a game of us in the West (9-4) and UT and Ball State are hanging around at 8-5. CMU is at WMU Wed and Ball St hosts UT. One of those teams will be practically eliminated from the West race Wed night...hopefully UT!

BG now 17-7, 10-3 MAC.

BEAT MARSHALL!!! One game at a time, Together We Attack!!

I'm afraid these occasional bouts of horrendous shooting are going to catch us come tournament time.

Over the course of a season, BG has proven to be the best overall squad in the MAC, but these offensive collapses opens the door for someone to sneek up in a single-elimination format. Heck, Akron almost beat us when we were't making threes.

I'm not as optimistic as some of you are when it comes to beating Eastern in Cleveland. Both times we've played them this year we haven't been able to throw the ball into water if we were standing on the beach. Watch, we will come out and score 70+ on a great Marshall team tomorrow....probably beat them by 10. Why can't we do that against Eastern? I really think its a mental thing, not just coincidence that these two games came against the team that beat us in the championship game last year.

It all comes down to this.....

We still don't have a dominate inside game yet. You may cry that we've got Ali Mann but the truth is Ali Mann can be emlimnated by a strong double team most of the time, leaving us almost excusivley to throwing up alot of three's, most of which miss. We're still not an amazing 3pt. shooting team yet. Honneger and Carin Horne are our best 3pt shooters with McDowell a close third. But for whatever reason we can't hit the broadside of an aircraft carrier whan we play Eastern, and because Eastern is very long and athletic at all postions especially at guard they force us to take a million threes that rarely go in. This what I mean when I say that it would be nice to have a really dominate inside scoring center that is 6'3 or taller. A tall center can still score over a double team if done right or can see easier over the top to pass to open shooters. I love Ali but, she does not do well against double teams. She's just not tall enough, big enough and athletic enough to negate a decent double team.

Lets hope the ladies can just shake it off and forget about Eastern Michigan right now and focus on Marshall who is very good it seems. Really there's just alot of bad matchups with Eastern who have better , bigger , quicker guards than us when you see an Eastern 2 guard being guarded by say a Casy McDowel who is slow as mollases , its not going to bode well. Bad refs at the end might have helped a little too as the WBGU guys on the radio where incinced the refs didn't call any foul for Carin driving into the lane.

Falconboy, our two leading scorers are our post players. That is not our problem. You did somewhat hit on the problem. Consistancy in the outside shooting. You saw it both times against EMU and other games such as Akron, etc.

That we missed alot of easy bunnies layups as well down the stretch , something we did alot in the first game with Eastern. I'm not saying our only problem is our post game , its just our biggest problem right now against the type of team that Eastern is. I also mentioned bad matchups with certain players like McDowell who is not quick at all and has no offensive game besides running around the 3pt line for an wide open shot. Also Achter is still has problems guarding big and athletic guards like what Eastern has , she'll just have to get stronger next year which she should. Lets get out Anderson Animals and SS for the game! And remember students you get in FREE!!!!! with I.D.

Sometimes this team can't connect on the 3-ball...I believe that's the obvious. It seems that when we don't, we usually start taking it down low more often. The Eastern game sounds like the Kent St. game all over again with not being able to hit the low shots. If we rely on the 3 and can't make it, we better be able to make the posts shots or all games will end like the previous 2 I mentioned...

Well guys......

It sounds like it get harder with Marshall tomorrow. Curt Miller mentioned on the radio show last night that Marshall appears to be the most athletic team in the Mac and the biggest as well. He said that their two centers are 6'4 and 250lbs and the other is 6'5 and 300 , yes thats right, 300lbs! To tell you the truth I have no freakin' clue how were going to defend that. :? Even Kapfur is giving up 3 to 4 inches and 75 to 90 pounds on these post girls of Marshall. The only way we have a chance is to run the ball up and down the floor hoping to make the those two centers gasp for breath while trying to keep up, cuz frankly Marshall doesn't have to shoot great from 3pt land or anything to win , they can just lob it over our heads to their freakish giant centers and have them lay it up basically uncontested. Coach Miller has got to be pulling his hair out with these horrible matchups for tomorrow.

This is were YOU come in! All of you townies and students who have nothing to do this Wed. at 7:00pm , be at Anderson for the ladies! We need a major big and loud crowd for Marshall's last hurrah in the Mac. All Anderson Animals we need you. All Sideline Squad members be there! Lets do it Metzger!! Lets go students, you can just tape Lost, Alias or whatever tv show for watching later.

If I remember correctly Curt's quote was "these two make Liz Honnegar look like she is on weight watchers." I nearly rolled off my chair when he said it at the radio show at Frickers.
