I liked what we did last year a lot. So, I'm nervous.

Re: New helmets
Three helmets isn't enough?
Re: New helmets
Maybe we're getting pink to match the chairs in the stadium?
Re: New helmets
Pretty sure it's a Military themed helmet to be worn on the Military Appreciation Day game...

Or maybe red, so they'll look the same color in person as they do on ESPN.apollo wrote:Maybe we're getting pink to match the chairs in the stadium?
Re: New helmets
Just another example of MAC football spending money....BG should have two helmets...game helmet and practice helmet. Why are we buying extra helmets when we can't fund our other programs? Hopefully this is something the AD will look into and start using more common sense with some of this stuff. BG football doesn't need 3 or 4 game helmets.

Re: New helmets
Confirmed via Twitter that the helmet is military themed and will be worn for the home opener.

TL;DR version: BG portion of logo in stars and stripes, the falcon head appears to be in a camo-style color scheme. The stripe down the middle of the helmet has the names of the 111 BGSU students who have died defending the country, which is a very classy and purposeful touch.

Re: New helmets
Not bad. That looks better than what we did four years ago in the Military Bowl.

Re: New helmets
"New helmet" is a bit of a misnomer. If you look, it is our orange helmet with different stripe and logo decals. So while it IS a new helmet design, it is NOT a new helmet.apollo wrote:Just another example of MAC football spending money....BG should have two helmets...game helmet and practice helmet. We currently have an orange shell, brown shell, and a white shell. With those three shells we can mix and match logo decals, stripes, and facemasks. Is 3 helmets excessive? Maybe. But also keep in mind that the lifespan of a helmet is limited to I believe 3 seasons? So they can spread out when one of those 3 is added to the rotation and budget for it accordingly.

Re: New helmets
I generally do not like these kind of helmets as a way of honoring the military or veterans, but the 111 names is a classy touch.

Re: New helmets
If it's just decals that's one thing...definitely don't need 3 shells, but at least it isn't a whole new helmet.

Re: New helmets
I wish the athletic department could do a better job of funding all the sports but, if your rival has three shell colors (see a school up 75) then to recruit you will also have three shell colors. It's the nature of the beast. When they start winning MAC titles in baseball BG will look at how they can beat them in baseball.apollo wrote:If it's just decals that's one thing...definitely don't need 3 shells, but at least it isn't a whole new helmet.
