Freddie Barnes breaks the school record for receptions and receiving yards in a game as BG rallies from being down 35-23 late in the 4th quarter to win. Tyler Sheehan also broke the school for passing yards and scored on a QB draw in the final seconds for the win.

BG walked into B1G country for a tough road test against the Terps. A long game thanks for a lightning delay allowed BG to gain some momentum and wear down the Terrapins, especially in the 4th quarter where the Falcons turned two turnovers into TDs and put up a whopping 28 points in the final frame. Matt Johnson would end up setting a career high in passing yards for a game, en route to a career year.

BG takes down their second Big 12 foe in as many weeks, this time on the road in Lawrence. Josh Harris would run for two scores and add another by way of reception as the Urban Meyer led Falcons would officially arrive on the national radar for the first time in over 25 years.

Some great memories in those first 10 games. I really enjoyed the game at Pitt coming off the GMAC Bowl thrashing and not having high expectations for the season. Brandon's time here didn't end well and there was a lot to be desired, but his teams were always really good in their first real game of the season - Purdue, Pitt, Minnesota all come to mind.

Lots of great plays and players in those games. One play I'll never forget is Andy Sahm rumbling 65 yards at Kansas. After seeing that game at #11, I tried finding the video, but failed. It must have been 15 seconds for that entire play and he ran out of gas just before the end zone.

Indeed! It's been difficult to find video on the older games which is disappointing. Everything seems to be from 2003 onward.

I will have the top ten beginning tomorrow.

I wonder if there is tape anywhere of the 1985 Miami game. Maybe not; in that era many of our games were not televised. That sure would be fun to watch, though.

GMAC Bowl
December 22, 2004

Bowling Green 52
Memphis 35

Omar Jacobs threw for 365 yards and 5 TDs while PJ Pope tacked on two rushing scores as the Falcons defeated the Tigers on a rain soaked night in Mobile. BG jumped out to a quick 21-7 lead in the first quarter, only to see the Tigers battle back to tie it at 28 late in the second. A Jacobs to Sanders TD with 37 seconds left in the half would put BG up for good. The game took a decided swing when star Tigers running back DeAngelo Williams left the game with a knee injury, forcing Memphis out of their conventional offense and placing pressure on QB Danny Wimprine to beat BG through the air. The bowl win would be the second is as many seasons for BG and allowed Jacobs to end the season with 41 TDs to 4 INTs, a ratio which at the time was best in NCAA history.

I have been trying to find the 2005 Wisconsin game for YEARS as my friends and I made the trip to Madison and got on tv just after steve sanders scored on like a 60 yard TD.

Bowling Green 56
Toledo 21

The final game of the 2001 season was the cherry on top of a season almost no one predicted. Urban Meyer had taken a 2-9 team from the previous year and flipped them into a team who would take down three P5 schools in one season. However, in the rivalry with Toledo, no matter how poor the season might be, a win against that team up north would leave Falcon fans satisfied for the offseason.

Josh Harris would wind up throwing for 268 yards and 4 TDs, while adding 117 yards and 2 additional scores on the ground in a thoroughly dominant performance by the Falcons. The BG defense was able to shut down Chester Taylor and limit the Rockets to only 273 yards of total offense on the other side of the ball. As the final gun sounded, the goal posts came down at Doyt Perry Stadium as Falcon fans stormed the field to celebrate with players and coaches alike.

Meyer still has that photo displayed on his mantle.

What a great way to cap off that comeback season. The program was resurrected and I just remember hating that the season was over and counting the days until we could kick off the next one, knowing we had good things to come.

I'll never forget the students marching off with the goal posts that day. What was the name of the bar on Wooster where they ended up being mounted in the ceiling? Was it M.T. Mugs? I wonder how many of us on this board were among the countless signatures on those goal posts as they hung in that bar. I wonder what ever became of them?

The weather the night of the 2001 ut game was beautiful. 65 degrees and fair...and 26K in the Doyt to see us roll 56-21. payback for the 51-17 ass kicking we got in Blackney's and Pinkel's last games the year before. Khary Campbell had the pick six and John Gibson ran all over the rockettes.

I had spoken to the manager as to the why sbx closed. He said book sales were down extremely, in fact fall of 2014 went to buy my daughter books to find out they no longer sold them, didn't even have them. He said sales of clothing had never been better couldn't make the difference off the books. Flip side, owners of building would not renegotiate contract, owners of sbx has closed other mac sbx before ours. At the time leaving those of the OSU's of the e country open.
