Between this and the ongoing talk of whether Myles will remain open: I suspect someone has ambitious plans for that property, which really does seem to be a great location.Tech2000 wrote:I had spoken to the manager as to the why sbx closed. Flip side, owners of building would not renegotiate contract, owners of sbx has closed other mac sbx before ours. At the time leaving those of the OSU's of the e country open.

#8 is a two-fer:
October 31, 1998
Bowling Green 34
Marshall 13
The Falcons hand the Thundering Herd their only loss of the 1998 season. Although BG finishes the '98 season with a losing record, the win against Marshall is a bright spot despite diminishing returns at the end of the Gary Blackney era.

December 4th, 2015
Bowling Green 34
Northern Illinois 14
The final game for Dino Babers' tenure at BG ends on a high note. Facing an offensively challenged Huskies team, the Falcons cruise with relative ease to their 2nd MAC Championship in three years. Travis Greene would rush for 183 and 2 scores to earn MVP honors, while Matt Johnson would strike for two scores through the air.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Bowling Green 20
Missouri 13
The beginning of the Urban Meyer era starts with a bang as the Falcons, coming off a dreadful 2-9 campaign in 2000, walk into Columbia, MO and hand the Tigers a stunning defeat. John Gibson and Joe Alls each run for a score while Andy Sahm hits David Bautista for a score through the air. The BG defense holds the Tigers to only 234 yards of offense and forced three turnovers, including two picks by Janssen Patton.

#6:
September 14th, 2002:
Bowling Green 51
Missouri 28
Gary Pinkel returns to The Doyt, this time as the head coach of the Tigers in a rematch of the previous season's upset by BG (see #6). This time however, the result was little in doubt. The Falcons would rack up 577 yards of offense, carried by the duo of Josh Harris and Cole Magner who combine for five scores. Mitch Hewitt would lead the defense, including a pick six of Tigers QB Brad Smith to help seal the deal.

A favorite of mine that didn't get mentioned.
2002

I had forgotten about that one. What a great game. Didn't WMU have a chip shot FG to win it at the end and either we blocked it or they missed? I remember turning away and not watching as they lined up for that kick and was sure we had lost.kdog27 wrote:A favorite of mine that didn't get mentioned.

My favorite that didn't make the list was the 2003, winner take all for the West Division, 31-23 win over Turdledo. Funnest game I've been to in my favorite season. The Rockettes were strong that year, but kind of got overshadowed somewhat by the BG, NIU, Miami teams that were in the national rankings. We trailed at halftime and the issue wasn't decided until late in the 4th. The memorable Harris-to-Magner-to-Harris throwback play for a long td put the cap on it. A win that day meant that we got a bowl berth for the first time in 11 years, went to the championship game where we got a rematch against Miami and kept tsun sitting at home instead of getting to go to a bowl and the championship game. Didn't get any better than that.
Nice job with the countdown JP. There are no wrong answers in that top 5. All fantastic days to be a Falcon!
Re: BG: 20 for 20
I don't remember it being a chip shot but yeah someone got a hand on it and they could have won it in regulation. J5 had in my opinion his most gutsy performance of his career that day.

For some reason, I thought the Harris-to-Magner-to-Harris play was the first score of the game. In any event, though, I agree -- that was a tremendous atmosphere and a really fun game.Beaker wrote:I had forgotten about that one. What a great game. You are correct threestooges. I checked the game notes and see that play happened in the 2nd quarter. We went to half trailing, tied at the end of 3 quarters and it was 2 Harris to Sharon TD passes that put us ahead in the 4th.threestooges wrote:For some reason, I thought the Harris-to-Magner-to-Harris play was the first score of the game.
